How Do Group Size and Social Context Affect Per‐Capita Behavioral Responses in a Nasute Termite? Group living is often assumed to increase individual behavioral activity in eusocial insects through social facilitation. Using controlled bioassays with the termite Nasutitermes corniger, we show th...

Predicting northern stonefly responses to climate change using species distribution modelling and population genetics (Plecoptera: Nemouridae) Investigating the population structure of stonefly species is integral to their conservation as it can identify populations at risk of localized extinction. Assessing morphological, developmental, and genetic responses of Hydropsychid caddisflies to Cry1Ab exposure Abstract. Transgenic crops expressing Cry proteins are widely cultivated to reduce crop damage from insect pests. However, Cry proteins can leach from tran

Transgenic crops release Cry proteins into streams.

But what does that mean for aquatic insects?🌱💧🐛

We measured and barcoded 1,800+ caddisflies across 25 streams.

Environmental factors like temperature, land use explained most patterns. Cry1Ab had limited impact.

OMG. The LTER program is one of the best, most ambitious programs in ecology. It's 26 sites supporting science about the long-term and large-scale phenomena. Like: how does farming change soil over time? How do sites recover from disturbance? What makes a healthy river? etc. 💔💔

NSF LTER program “archived”.

LTER=“Long Term Ecological Research”.

This program has been incredibly successful, incredibly frugal for what they accomplish, and…of course…targeted by evil know-nothings.

My heart is breaking.
