If you don’t get your child vaccinated against measles, it can put them at a high risk of this serious infection, which can lead to severe complications or even death. Make sure your child’s measles vaccination is up to date.

Omg this is terrible, such a big problem with all these centers, same with “nutraceutics” some supplements and so on, the lack of regulation it is scary the consequences are not registered in many cases 😞

4️⃣In 1988, Elion, Hitchings, &James Black won the Nobel Prize 🏆
She was one of the few women to ever receive this honor
She never earned a PhD, yet her impact on medicine is immeasurable
Elion's discoveries transformed medicine, saving countless lives. her story is also a reminder of the 👩🔬barriers
3️⃣ She didn't stop there. With her team she also
developed:
💊Allopurinol - for gout
💊Pyrimethamine - for malaria
💊Trimethoprim - antibiotic
💊Acyclovir - the first major antiviral for herpes
Her work laid the foundation for modern immunosuppressive therapy and antiviral drugs
2️⃣Working alongside George Hitchings, they developed 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP) in 1950 & later azathioprine in 1957, which became lifesaving drugs for leukemia &organ transplantation
This was a major shift in drug development, they designed drugs based on how cells functioned, rather than trial& error
1️⃣ Who was Gertrude B. Elion?
Born in 1918, after losing her grandfather to cancer, she dedicated her life to medical research
But as a 👩🔬 in the early 20th century, breaking into the field wasn’t easy
She took on multiple unpaid jobs before finally joining Burroughs Wellcome in 1944
Time turns people into legends
1/🧵 on one of the most important women in med history: Gertrude B. Elion
You may not know her, but her discoveries changed medicine
She co-developed thiopurines (azathioprine, mercaptopurine), a breakthrough in immunosuppressive therapy, & won the Nobel Prize in 1988
