Sunlit one year old gray tabby cat laying on the carpet and looking up at the camera.

I love these small purple checkerboard Fritillaria meleagris in my Spring garden. I'm glad a few escaped the bunny who decided to nip off the almost-blooming stems and leave the flowers.

Really excited to see this paper, which is basically the long-form explanation of everything we put into the animated mural in the Chicago Archaeopteryx display.

A picture of a rather dilapidated copy of "The picture of Dorian Gray" There is visible water damage to the cover and the plastic cover is yellowing. Obviously, not evident from the picture but there is a truly foul musty smell emanating from it!
Last week, a gentleman returned this rather dilapidated copy of this famous book to us after 50 years. He had found it in his attic!
Presumably this means there is a pristine copy somewhere in our libraries....
We make Naan taco pizza in our house. Really mixing those cultures up.

The Pompei galleries in the Naples Archaeological Museum are endless, amazing and also so sad. Here’s Terentius Neo the Baker and his wife looking intellectual. You hope they got out, or simply weren’t there that terrible day.
My father survived a year with pancreatic cancer but it was a year of terrible suffering. This is very encouraging news.

Spanish pioneers. Spain was the first recorded European country to "discover" Florida and what would become the United States of America in 1513, and it was under Spanish influence until 1821.
Breezy day on the Rock River in Rockford, Illinois, USA.
The Rock River is closed to boats as it is at or near flood stage from all of the rain the last several days.
We're too far north for cherry trees to do well, but flowering crabapple trees flourish here.

Photograph of an unlined notebook page on which a student has sketched numerous igneous rock samples in great detail.
Fantastic sketches by one of my students yesterday during our Geology Club open lab session. ⚒️
Honestly would have even enjoyed just the architecture story by itself. It didn't need a killer to make it interesting.
I heard a rumor that Napoleon lives in a spare room somewhere in the Hall?

Have you watched "Uncle From Another World" yet? SEGA guided his life.
Though it was warned, there wasn't a tornado on the ground by the time it got to Rockford. There was one near Pearl City /Freeport to the west.
Last night's Spring thunderstorm as it approached from the west. It had near continuous lightning and a tornado warning (it was still 20 miles away at this point and we were not included in the warning yet.)

This was one of my finds this weekend near Alpena, Michigan.
This is a Gilbertsocrinus crinoid calyx from the Devonian Bell Shale. This is about as big as they get in this formation. It's searching on your hands and knees and a bit of luck.
Inspired by the way so many classic songs fade out at the end rather than having an actual ending, in my next book, the text will just get fainter and fainter until you can't see it anymore.
