A long long time ago, there used to be a restaurant like that here.

I wonder if my parents have any pics of it... though this would have been before digital cameras, so I'm not sure what the chances are of us having these.

We are not required to platform internalized transphobia.

I know jack about marketing, so I guess it feels easy for me to say "fuck outsider expectations and market it to yourself -- people will come for that" -- but I'm just a silly reader/gamer and not an artist, so take that with some salt I guess.

Don't lose yourself under the weight of expectation.

Read the thread, but don't be a jerk! It's OK to celebrate wins.

Some people don’t really know about uneven cognitive abilities because yes I can write I express myself well but sometimes processing spoken language or responding in real time is a challenge

Crying out to try and maintain relevance, this is the most pick me bullshit ever.

Being trans is hard. So are a lot of other things in life.

The goal of society should be to make existing less difficult, not to pick and choose who exists.

“T-they do?”
“Of course. Your aunt Callie and I may not get to meet up as often as we used to, with new people entering our lives, but we’re also closer than we’ve ever been. Staying friends despite the hardships only strengthens the bond. They love you like they always have, Hope.”
Reassurance.

If you reply to someone's post passionately agreeing with them and also posting a link to resources,

CAUTION

does it read like you are incompetently disagreeing? Did you say, at all, that you agreed? With words?

I don’t really want to see people wearing “ironic” Infowars hats.

The International Meeting for Autism Research #INSAR2026 is next week! We'll once again be hosting the #AutINSAR discussion on autistic priorities for autism research, since most research does …not consider those priorities. Join us Sat, April 25. 2025 recap:

Can confirm that if you don’t bring your own #INSAR2026 lanyard you *will* find yourself wearing an Autism Science Foundation-branded one, sigh. ASF is an openly cure-focused, anti- #neurodiversity org. More info on why ASF works against autistic interests:

“Why not? I thought you LOVED hanging out with Deep Cut!”
“Not since they left me for a ‘Muh-canh-ick’. I’m mad at them.”
“Hope, dear, I’m sure they didn’t abandon you. A new friend won’t replace your old friends. You’ve been spending time with Buddy, but I know you don’t love us any less.”
Upset.

I’m still the only candidate in this race who isn’t a billionaire and doesn't take corporate PAC money.

I don't spend my time in boardrooms; I spend it with the thousands of Californians powering this campaign.

That’s who the next Governor should be focused on.

But really... we really need digital copies of the lecture slides.

Plus the ability to take notes in class with a laptop, and without restriction, and without that ableist stinkeye.

Being able to take digital notes improves my grade by a full letter.

Wait, I have more to say.

Give us digital copies of lecture slides and don't low-key accuse us of using it as a way to skip class. Like... do you know how much tuition is?!? And like... skip class on purpose, in this economy?!?

Like, if I miss class, it's 'cause I'm sick.

I want a quiet room in every building.

I want institutions to collab with disability rights organizations and give them authority to step in for us where schools are required to follow their recommendations.

And much much much lower tuition. Or no tuition at all.

To me, I feel like both community college and grad school gave me ways to grow more independent in ways that just weren't possible in public schools.

I feel like it helped my individuality and independence to really grow.

OMG my community college had easy access to lounges where people knew to keep quiet, so I had a lot easier time there.

University was so difficult!!! Everything was noisy, and the "quiet" spaces were too spread apart.

I also think part of the differences had to do with the way instructors treated us.

Evening instructors seem to treat their students way differently than regular daytime instructors.

Maybe they all realize we're juggling jobs and families along with class. They get it.

In community college, they treated me like an adult, and so I was able to make it through ok despite the lack of accommodations.

At university, I went back to being treated like a kid, and my grades were a lot lower as a result.

Grad school was like community college. Easier.

To be honest though, even without accommodations, college was easier than high school with accommodations.

At least in community college, anything I needed as a formal accommodation was just automatically provided to me informally by instructors when I asked.

I had weekly meetings with a counselor, but the problem was that they didn't keep any of my appointment times.

They ran so far late that sometimes I wouldn't get in to see them until an hour late.

They didn't give any kind of useful feedback or assistance or advice or anything.

It's hard to say what I needed, but there weren't really any conversations around the topic.

If I accepted ANY accommodations, they told me that all my credits would be non-transferable to university.

So I had to go without accommodations the whole way through.
