📢 AACP joined national pharmacy organizations in a joint statement expressing concern over recent CDC ACIP charter changes that overemphasize vaccine risks while underweighting the proven benefits and disease prevention outcomes of vaccination.

This week's Whopper is about the peptide debate at the FDA and the fact that Sec Kennedy has been pushing for a legal route to their manufacture despite safety concerns and a lack of efficacy data.
🎉It's #NationalPublicHealthWeek and we’re READY for a healthier future! Here in Multnomah County, our public health teams work every day to improve health outcomes for everyone. Public health lives in our environments: the air we breathe, water we drink, sidewalks we walk and parks we enjoy. #NPHW

It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for @defendpublichealth.bsky.social’s Whopper of the Week!
For Public Health Week, today the team takes aim at claims that RFK Jr. and his flying monkeys are “restoring trust” in public health.
Huge News! Thank you for making your voices heard. The Conservation Alliance posted just 30 minutes ago that they are joining the movement to save the U.S. Forest Service and over 70 businesses have signed on! Stronger together!
It’s prevention, preparation, & the boring‑looking stuff that stops disasters before you even hear their names.
Public health is how community stays healthy without you even realizing someone’s been protecting it. #nationalpublichealthweek @apha.org
Public health is the quiet machinery that keeps society safe: clean air, safe food, honest data, working systems, & people who notice when things look a little weird.
It’s not about treating a person; it’s about protecting everyone.

Communities across the nation are recognizing the important role public health plays in our daily lives during National Public Health Week. Among those is the County Council of Montgomery County, Maryland, which marked the observance with a proclamation today.

A graphic with a photo of the US Capitol Building with a raised U.S. flag says in blue text: TAKE ACTION. Urge your representatives to support public health funding and reject cuts. At the bottom right is the American Public Health Association logo.
Public health strengthens our communities and saves lives. But that work takes support. This #NPHW, tell your members of Congress to stand up for public health funding for CDC, HRSA and beyond.
Your voice matters! It's fast and easy with our APHA action alert: vist.ly/4xmf2

A lot of politicians like to spout off about how trust in public health needs to rebuilt, but given the continuing attacks on public health by the U.S. government, a relevant question is how can politicians rebuild public health’s trust in them?
They’re literally killing us.
Mental health is a key component of public health infrastructure. Ready, set, action! Happy National Public Health Week!

Depression is a leading cause of disability worldwide, and social connection is one of the strongest protective factors we have. It often has a stigma around it but breaking through for connection and relationships is very important.
During Public Health Week, @defendpublichealth.bsky.social wants to thank all of the local health departments who are serving their communities in the face of chaos and funding cuts from RFK Jr.
Their work is critical and often invisible. We see you, and we are grateful for you.
Very grateful to @defendpublichealth.bsky.social announcing their new People’s Health Platform this week during Public Health week! www.defendpublichealth.org/resource/peo...
Happy National Public Health Week to those who keep showing up even when data is messy, social media is wild, funds is thin & politics are antagonistic.
Data saves lives
Prevention saves money
Equity saves futures
Public health is infrastructure.

Woot woot, DPH is taking it to the streets today!
AP: With Dems steadily wiping out GOP in the core Atlanta counties of swing-state Georgia, Republicans have a new idea: Make most local candidates run for office without party labels.
GOP can't win with an "R" by their name so they want to take away the "R."

The one issue that I see with this is the focused control of many news/journalism platforms. There are definitely times that more information and truth comes out from first-hand accounts of what is happening.
Trump is trying to drop charges against a Turkish bank for skirting Iranian sanctions, and is now lifting sanctions on Iran himself to the tune of $14B, all while going after Biden for unfreezing $6B of Iran's own money for food and medicine for the Iranian people.
RFK Jr.’s ACIP planned to present data last week on how dangerous they believe COVID19 vaccines are.
Since the judge ruled that the members RFK Jr. installed are not legitimate, several have appeared in the media.
Not a single one has mentioned any fears about continued COVID19 vaccinations.
When the only reality you care about is your narrative, unfortunately they do think it is good. Remember, he said he likes the uneducated.
And they know that repetition becomes reality so the more media they control, the more they get away with
Favorite Line of the Night because the truth... matters.

Announcement from Maxell, who is re-releasing a new version of their cassette tape player with bluetooth or wired headphones and a rechargeable USB c battery https://amzn.to/4bq77LX
On Threads, Maxell announced the return of their cassette player. I am stupidly excited for that. My mix tapes are still in their little case bc I or some beau spent so much time on them, I couldn't bear to part with them. My son is gonna be soooo embarrassed when I make him listen! amzn.to/4bq77LX
To be clear: the SAVE Act does not simply require the identification voting ALREADY requires. It demands proof of CITIZENSHIP— a birth certificate with a name that matches yours now (bye, bye, married women), or a passport— both of which are expensive and take a long time to obtain.
