Donald Trump just said he'll ask the Supreme Court to freeze SNAP payments AGAIN.

His message to the 42 million Americans who rely on SNAP? Eat dirt.

Stephen Miller spent millions of federal dollars to do a "show of force" in a quiet Los Angeles public park while the administration tells Texas it doesn't have the money to help them handle this nightmare.

I'm really hoping to see some newspapers/elected officials state this obvious point.

It is genuinely your moral duty, if you’re in the sciences, to violate the terms of your contact and take as much of the research home with you as you can. Today, tomorrow, every day your lab’s still open.

Everything we have stood around the world going back 80 years - collective security, honoring alliances, helping friends & allies, feeding the hungry, treating & curing diseases, humanitarian aid, the rule of law, broadcasting truthful news to people who can’t get it - all gone.

Openly ignoring and defying the Judiciary.

Breaking his oath to preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States.

Granting himself unchecked power.

This is authoritarianism.

“Maine may be one of the first states to undergo an investigation by his Administration, but we won’t be the last. Today, the President of the United States has targeted one particular group on one particular issue which Maine law has addressed. But you must ask yourself: who and what will he target next, and what will he do? Will it be you? Will it be because of your race or your religion? Will it be because you look different or think differently? Where does it end? In America, the President is neither a King nor a dictator, as much as this one tries to act like it – and it is the rule of law that prevents him from being so."

Gov. Mills showed precisely the sort of integrity in the face of political pressure that the majority of the party currently lacks. More importantly, she did so extemporaneously and without hesitation from a purple state where this isn't a universally popular position.

ABA
It has been three weeks since Inauguration Day.
Most Americans recognize that newly elected leaders bring change. That is expected. But most Americans also expect that changes will take place in accordance with the rule of law and in an orderly manner that respects the lives of affected individuals and the work they have been asked to perform.
Instead, we see wide-scale affronts to the rule of law itself, such as attacks on constitutionally protected birthright citizenship, the dismantling of USAID and the attempts to criminalize those who support lawful programs to eliminate bias and enhance diversity.
We have seen attempts at wholesale dismantling of departments and entities created by Congress without seeking the required congressional approval to change the law. There are efforts to dismiss employees with little regard for the law and protections they merit, and social media announcements that disparage and appear to be motivated by a desire to inflame without any stated factual basis. This is chaotic. It may appeal to a few.
But it is wrong. And most Americans recognize it is wrong.
It is also contrary to the rule of law.
The American Bar Association supports the rule of law. That means holding governments, including our own, accountable under law. We stand for a legal process that is orderly and fair.
We have consistently urged the administrations of both parties to adhere to the rule of law. We stand in that familiar place again today. And we do not stand alone. Our courts stand for the rule of law as well.

Trump has dismissed the director of the Office of Government Ethics. David Huitema, the former director, played a key role in vetting Trump administration appointees for conflicts of interest.

“Trump ran his campaign on lowering costs for working families. Now he and his co-president Elon Musk have tried to shut down the agency that has delivered $21 billion to hard-working families. $21 billion to people who got cheated and Trump & Musk want to just take that agency away.” - Sen. Warren

Elon and 47s attacks on basic programs threaten American families and National Security. From the CFPB to the Department of Education and even the Pentagon.

They’re dismantling protections that keep families, students and workers safe.

Trump and his lawyers embrace the logic of dictatorship And they're not even trying to hide it at this point.

"The administration's stance is that by electing him president, the country gave Trump total authority to do anything he’d like. But that justification renders Congress superfluous. Why go through the charade of making policy and negotiating budgets if POTUS can just ignore laws when he wants to?"
