I see them both as heroes, but only because I have the inside scoop on where they end up in the long run. If you were to ask them, they would both deny being any kind of hero. Both have situations they feel a lot of guilt over.

WIP Fact: The original title was Twisted Fate.

Nay: Do *I* have to call him that? *chuckles* Gonna raise a lot of customer eyebrows if I do.

Nay: *cringes* Yikes. That had to be terrifying when you can't get away fast enough. *frown turns into a bit of a smirk* So, quiet-focused with random spurts of sarcasm and a strong 'Don't you even THINK about it' look. I can handle that I think.

The Storm - Week 3 17. Are We Sure About This? - Doubt creeps in. What, if anything, makes your main character(s) hesitant?

Shawn comes up against memories of an ex that tried to mould him into her idea of 'perfect'. He feels he escapted by the skin of his teeth and is hesitant to get involved with anyone now.
Rachel has a strong disbelief that people actually want her around. Trust is hard to earn.

Nay: Dare I ask what happened there? *chuckles* And is he quiet like Anna or quiet like Aurora? *jokes* There's a huge difference.

The Storm - Week 3 16. Danger Lurks - Some things are better left untouched. Tell us about the dangers your protagonist(s) have to face.

The danger Shawn faces is vulnerability and growth vs. apathy and the status quo. The choice comes to a head in a way he was dreading.
For Rachel, the danger is in placing trust in the wrong people. The aftermath is proof to herself that she doesn't deserve happiness.

The main antag of Book 1 absolutely needs their allies. They would never admit to it, but their popularity only hinges on how much influence they have. Bullies always have friends.

JULIAN: And they're happily co-habitating still. Lost two to the other team. *sighs playfully*
BANNER: *wrinkles his nose* Dude, you had NO shot. Gotta let that go. *laughs*
JULIAN: Yeah. Yeah. *grins into a sip of his coffee*

JULIAN: *sighs* Too many questions, man. I don't know yet. I'm inclined to take him with us, but I don't know how that would sit with everyone else. Already cramped on that bus as it is. I also don't want to take him away

Nay: *gives him a relieved look when he mentions someone coming to stay with her at the shop* *softly as she tucks her arm through his and rests her cheek against his shoulder* Thank you. Hopefully they don't mind. I really appreciate that though.

Nay: She knows more about me than anyone, but I also know her better than most, too. She has ways of getting things out of me, so I know it won't take her long. So, we'll have to try to stay ahead of that if we want any kind of celebratory kind of announcement. *steps out into the hall with him*

Nay: Sounds good to me. *enjoys their hug and little longer before finally looking up at him* Should we go get everyone on the road to brunch? See if anyone says we look like we're hiding anything between us? *smiles*

Nay: *smiles bigger* I like all of those ideas. If we like this place and if we GET this place... I want all those things with you. Make it somewhere we can't wait to get out of work for. Something full of sunshine, love and lots of laughter. Sounds like heaven to me.

Nay: I can do that, sure. Are you going to make a list too? What manly stuff is gonna show up to balance out all the blue I'll probably fill it with? *soft smile*

There are many mysteries ongoing. None are necessarily chased, just wondered about. Rachel's aunt & uncle wonder why her sister sent her there. Rachel wonders what Dee's dad does for a living. Shawn wonders why he'll catch Rachel flinch sometimes. Rachel wonders why she's alive.

For Rachel, its trusting the wrong person. It's not her fault, but she still feels a lot of regret because of a conversation shared with them.
For Shawn, its an immature lapse of judgment that's coming full circle to take what he realizes he actually wants.

Rachel is instantly befriended by Deanna Aviyn the first day they meet. Dee's a perky gal with a love of rock n' roll & oodles of creative talent in fashion design. She plays a pivotal role in acclimating Rachel to her new life & is a fiercely loyal friend, espeically when SHTF.

Nay: *goes very red and has to break eye contact* I-I mean if you want to. Whatever you want's good.

I’m thinking so,” I thought I muttered softly enough. The teacher’s smile faded and a serious look took its place. “All in good fun. Welcome to CVH, Rachel. One big happy family here, aren’t we, class?” he encouraged, but only a few responded with quiet and sarcastic-sounding, “Yeah, sure’s.” “I’m Mr. Ticman, for the newbies…” He gestured toward me. “And repeat offenders alike.” A surprising nod was given straight at Shawn, who rolled his eyes and shook his head as he looked down at his textbook. He picked at the edge of its cover with his fingertips before glancing over at me. “Mr. Tic to those who actually hand in their assignments on time, or ‘Mr. Quit Riding Me, Man!’ if you haven’t.” He grinned. I arched a brow at Shawn, but he just smirked and opened his book as the teacher continued his introduction. Excuse me?
