BREAKING: 20 of us and other groups arrested blocking Hochul’s Albany office entrance b/c she’s trying to gut NY’s climate law.
She wants to boost gas company profits at our expense by adopting Trump’s energy agenda. 🤬
New York, tell your state legislators: hell no!
I found it. My favorite right winger anti-Local Law 97 tweet.
“NYC launches concierge-style service, enhanced web tools to aid Local Law 97 compliance” set him off 🤌😂
Story here:

This wouldn’t be a “compromise,” it’s be gutting the climate law, whose only major directive was to the governor to regulate by 2024.
Moving that date kills the subsequent lawsuit.
A new date won’t mean f all b/c Hochul won’t follow law, unless ordered!
These Legislators shouldn’t try to kid us.
This piece begins with Amity Shlaes' most common and most deceitful trick -- citing the unemployment numbers in 1938, when the country fell into a recession because FDR had been persuaded to *ease off* the New Deal, as proof that the New Deal didn't work.
Pure hackery.
Modern high yield crops on which we depend only produce that yield with several rounds of fertiliser application. A big proportion of that fertiliser can’t get out of the Middle East now. Millions of people are going to starve as a result of Bibi & Trump’s war.
A giant subsidy move will hopefully happen in the state budget, with expansion and extension of the j51 tax credit for energy efficiency enacted. A firehose of support $$$ - and set for planning thru 2035.
See here for info on that:

This is free expert help and access to sophisticated useful software that can guide a large multifamily building through decades of work.
It’s the sort of guidance a large real estate operation has access to. Now a stand along co-op or condo will, too. 👍
NYC Local Law 97, the world’s most-important city-level climate/jobs law, took another big step forward this week!

Strait up Iran!”

Trump "Strait of Iran", TACO edition with a literal chicken flapping about.
I am lucky and generally like my job and also I would greatly prefer not to do it lol
Fuckin’ retirement. Sign me up!
What a nice day in NYC!
Hochul is in bed with the devil — and the devil wants our climate law dead. Join us in Albany on April 21 to stop her.

It’s absurdly nice in NYC rn
We’re now rolling to win a #GasFreeNYC under @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social @council.nyc.gov!!!
✅ save money
✅ good union jobs
✅ lower pollution
Via energy efficiency subsidies and requirements for 1-2 family homes.
Making NYC less expensive, fairer, cleaner to live in. Let’s go!
the president of the united states is personally looting the treasury to the tune of literally billions of dollars and that he is not being immediately removed from office and tried for high crimes against this country is a devastating indictment of every part of our political system
I'll be there! Hochul is wrong on the climate law, wrong on energy affordability. The Assembly & Senate need to know that people care.
Yes! 😂 We’re going to be making the point that on this issue she is no different from Trump. So we’ll have signs and stuff like that and more is always great!
Congratulations Equinor and all the fossil fuel companies raking in record profits thanks to bloodshed in the middle east while people in Asian countries have to line up for fuel and America's attacks have killed hundreds

The legislature should not bend to Hochul’s outrageous attack on the climate law.
She is doing the oil and gas industry’s bidding. If she and her oily buddies succeed in getting the senate and assembly to flop over to a Trump-like agenda, it’ll be terrible.
Get your bad self to Albany on Tuesday to rally with us!!!
We have to get the legislature to stop Hochul’s attack on the climate law. If she succeeds she will raise our bills and increase pollution.
This will be a fun one, too! But it is a dire situation. RSVP:

And yeah in terms of expectations I expect way the hell more from the historic Mamdani victory.
His endorsement for Hochul was an enormous get for her, especially so early.
I hope the final budget is not massive cuts/losses amidst some gains. Let’s all push!

Now I’m a critic of the advocacy complex, which I work in. I think wfp’s been too timid in recent years. That’s no secret.
But please: let’s keep things in perspective.
$500m per year isn’t all that.
We need way the heck more to make the math work. We’ve won way more before.
I recently saw someone tweeting some dsa hype, which i generally like seeing: it’s good organization building.
I don’t recall who sent it but in that particular tweet, the contrast was made to the (implicitly ineffective) NGO world, implying that world never could win THAT.
I’ve been part of several tax the rich fights. The most successful one, led by wfp at the time, forced Cuomo into about $5B per year in higher taxes on the rich, as I recall.
The pied a terre tax is good! (Assuming it passes) But it doesn’t make the math work.
A modest step🧵
