Yep, it's mentioned in the article. But it's not mainstream and maybe it should be?

The Cost of Loving I love you more than life itself but I swear I’ll love you better if you let me turn the heating off and you wear another sweater. I cannot get enough of you – I’m completely in your thrall. I love to watch you bending over to unplug the telly at the wall. Yes, you’re the only one for me, my sweet and fragrant flower – now you’ve ditched your daily bath for a cost-efficient shower. Make no mistake, I love you loads, you send my head into a spin. Our cycle’s set to eco-wash: let’s cram as much as we can in. My cup of love’s full to the brim, it overflows, my petal. So make yourself a brew with me, but don’t overfill the kettle.
Today’s poem is called ‘The Cost of Loving’.
This poem, about a week in Las Vegas a long while back, was published recently in a journal I won't credit as the editor messed me about. In fairness getting my name so wrong was probably a decent red flag. :D
Thanks for reading. :)

This image is a political illustration from the German newspaper Die Zeit depicting a confrontation between a Pope and a US President.
The artwork is titled "Pope Leo XIV" and portrays a tension-filled scene between the two figures.

I like how now trying to finish the novel before my library loan expires counts as excitement.
Back in early 2020, less than a year after my husband passed, I participated in an online 30-day grief writing course. Afterwards, those of us who attended that particular session moved into an “alumni” space. Such grace, such presence. Such heartbreak. Such grief. Such LOVE. Along the way, one of the members proposed a prompt: “I find myself with an excess of grief…” To which I wrote (black text on white background): I find myself with an excess of grief… ・୨ 𖥸 ୧・ If Grief is the rawest, wildest flip side of Love then let me be topped full to overflowing show the ledger in the black with surplus have it reflect all the love I have for you Buckets and pails and pots gather them up! Don’t waste a drop for this excess I shall save carefully and use in times of drought when my heart becomes parched I like to think of it as a welcomed over-abundance but some might sneer, calling it indulgent “Freedom begins when you tell Mrs. Grundy to go fly a kite,” is what I’d say to that “My Love Tank is low,” I hear you whisper Worry no more, My Love! Guess what I have: a bellyful of Grief, which is really Love anyway and serving that up to you eases my soul ・୨ 𖥸 ୧・ I find myself with an excess of grief… Please, Grief - never stop - ever crash upon the shore break the levies topple the dams Fill my heart again and again and again --------------- (Also published in “Dust & Bone – Our Poetic Legacy”, edited by Kevin Watt. This poetry anthology can be found on Amazon.) The 15th was our 15th wedding anniversary. Today, the 16th, is the 7th anniversary of my husband’s passing. Fuck Cancer. I remain devastated without him. I love you, my Husband. Always. Never gonna let you go.
Written in response to a grief prompt years back.
Please friends, if I may be so forward to ask: would you please hold a little space today for me and my husband. I miss him fiercely.
In peace and light - namaste 🕊️💜

Disney's new CEO, whose pay package is worth nearly $45M, just announced 1,000 layoffs.
Reminder that Disney paid an effective federal income tax rate of ZERO in 2025 and aims to buy back $7B of its own stock in 2026.
This is what corporate greed looks like.

I think we should all start blogs again. Or online journals, even. That was a nice time. Just writing a few paragraphs about your day (don't forget to list the sad song you're listening to!) and maybe your friends will leave a comment. Then you go and read theirs and comment. It was fun.

Hurrah! So glad #moth made it to Madrid and for this lovely summary @madridlitmag.bsky.social
🤩
We’ll have a full review of #Moth this weekend to mark its launch this Sunday. A beautifully hand-stitched debut from Dr Eleanor Holmes, it blends poetry and prose with clinical precision and lyrical power. Intimate, unsettling and luminous.
