Allergen-induced airway matrix remodeling in mice can be prevented or reversed by targeting chitinase-like proteins Allergic airway matrix remodeling occurs independently of IL-13 and IL-17A and is driven instead by chitinase-like proteins.

It was a pleasure to write this piece on HPV immunisation as part of our #CelebrateVaccines series πŸ’™ Now more than ever, it is critical that we share evidence based resources on vaccination to help people make informed decisions about their health πŸ¦ πŸ’‰πŸŒ

2024 has been a fantastic year of lung/imm/mac papers with some critical insights on host/pathogenesis. I'm highlighting some papers that I found in this thread, perhaps we can build more immune niches on sky app with help of @rodrahimi.bsky.social who initiated discovery imm stack. 🧡 x/n. Let's go.

Parasite models have taught us so much about how the immune response is regulated - we think they can also teach us a lot about immune-mediated matrix formation and it's roles in effective (or not!) tissue repair

Mice that lack #IL-13 have a reduced type-2 response and we found they have less #HA at day 7 post infection... But IL-13 deficient mice have more tissue damage - highlighting an important IL-13-HA-tissue repair pathway that were investigating further πŸ‘€

The peak of HA in the lung coincides with the peak of the #type2immune response - which we know to be essential for effective #repair of the tissue damage caused by the parasite πŸͺ±

Injury From Nematode Lung Migration Induces an IL‐13‐Dependent Hyaluronan Matrix A consistent feature of lung injury is a rapid and sustained accumulation of hyaluronan (HA). The rodent gut-dwelling nematode Nippostrongylus brasiliensis (Nb) induces tissue damage as it migrates t....

Really interesting angle, and one we don't yet have the answer too. Certainly a possibility - CD44 binding to HA is highly dependent on how the HA is 'presented' to it. We've got lots more questions to answer and are looking forward to what we can uncover using these models! thank you πŸ™‚
