In order to protect our men, we’ve constructed a labyrinth and trapped Jolene inside it
Remember that time Roger McGuinn (The Byrds) and Kris Kristofferson invented a The Clash song in 1976?Produced by Mick Ronson of course.
(I am just as confused/surprised as you are)
*screams in purple, rushes to nearest local bookstore*
We're listening.
this recent article detailing SZA's anti-AI positions gives a very clear description of the many ways in which AI-generated music, along with other AI-generated media, is anti-Black (if anyone is curious about that)
www.nme.com/news/music/s...
the same thing happened with recordings, and now generative AI is positioning itself as the technology driving a third wave of this same phenomenon - the only question now is whether audiences will go along with it and fully embrace the new technology (as happened with sheet music and recordings)
anti-Blackness, is of course the big driver for all of this; in the late 1800s, the music industry first emerged around a particular technology (sheet music) that allowed white creators and institutions to encode and commoditize sonic signifiers of Blackness (see: Matthew D. Morrison's 'Blacksound')
a big point in my teaching is that streaming aims to lower labor costs and dispossess the value of musical labor, algorithms flatten aesthetics (i.e. what @robinjames.bsky.social calls "chill"), to favor sounds/styles that are cheap to produce - AND all this continues the industry's historical goals
The portion of the road that will be affected is east of Mansfield Avenue, and will afffect the west-traveling lane of traffic. A second potential location of disruption will be just east of Fletcher Place.
The City of Burlington will be repairing waterlines located under a portion of Colchester Ave, beginning Monday, April 13, and continuing for at least a week. These repairs will affect Colchester Avenue between Mansfield Avenue and Fletcher Place.
The elevator at University Heights North 2 will be out of service on Monday, April 13 for maintenance. If you need support with mobility in this area on this day, please contact Student Accessibility Services, or work directly with your Student Accessibility Specialist to arrange for support.

Last year, I wrote a book about teaching musical concepts through popular music in the K–20 classrooms. If that is your kind of thing, you can purchase it as a downloadable here through the fabulous publisher F-Flat Books.

“Being an old lady in a heavy rock band feels even more ‘not the done thing’ than being a girl in a band felt in the 90s. I like that!” says singer Sam

Single cover. Tallies making 50, a red stripe, '50 men' Beaker' in cursive.
Oxford indie rock band Beaker have released a new single '50 men' in tribute to Frenchwoman Gisele Pellicot. It’s the band’s first single in 27 years, produced and mixed by producer Sam Williams (Supergrass, Plan B).
This is not a drill.
On the NASA #Artemis II livestream just now: "... and the song you heard was Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan to kick off the crew's day" 🩷🐴🌈
A song that has not just held the test of time but become more relevant with age.

Your friend apologizes, he could see it my way
He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking
Can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding
I will forever stay mad that Sony refused to let them release a full album of Patty Griffin covers. This hits like a goddamn freight train, and I lost my entire mind when I saw this live on the MMXVI tour. #CountryRockSunday: www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_yg...
The banjo and the stomping percussion on this both go so hard, and this voice shouldn't have come out of this kid. #CountryRockSunday: www.youtube.com/watch?v=stfg...
