Watching Non-Stop #Filmsky

Is anyone I know going to see this? I'm curious but suspect I won't bother to go myself

It's gotta be pretty miserable when your own team aren't fans. I'm sure there are other Labour MPs aligned to her but I'm not surprised she's appearing worn down.

Watching The Commuter purely because algorithms have been aggressively telling me to for years now and my willpower has run out #Filmsky

This was, to be clear, a few years ahead of any serious chatter about a referendum. I came to feel Europe is our natural home but we'll also always be a bit of an odd one out too, which makes absolute sense if you look at a map.

That being said it was very clear those from the mainland were distinctly different to me as well, and they felt that culture divide too, which they found equally challenging. Churchill once said Britain was "with Europe but not of Europe" and I finally understood his words.

My "European Awakening" occurred during my exchange year to Canada. I had a very international social circle and I discovered I had far more in common socially, culturally and value wise with those from the European mainland than I did the Canadians.

I'm personally sceptical that many people consider being European core to their identity, outside of weird FBPE people.

I also wonder if that tune will change if any of the various far right parties gaining ground in Europe start making more noise that gets heard over here.

Reports of a third attempted arson attack on Jewish targets in North London this week. It's getting really scary and more people need to start taking it seriously.

Growing economic uncertainty also benefits the Torys, it's basically the only area where they're trusted more than Reform.

Also I think the initial decline was Undecideds moving to Greens which reduces everyone else's polling figure in polls that ignore Undecideds. This year it's been a more visible shift away from Reform.

Their polling peak was a few months before then but I think the decline was margin-of-error level until those two arrived

It’s inaccurate to say Mario is brave and Luigi is cowardly

Luigi is afraid of death, so he runs away from danger. Mario is afraid of living, so he runs towards death. Both brothers are cowards in their own way

There's a BBC article from 2019 which notes the security services didn't trust Boris with security information and that seems to be the origin of the non-story that Boris failed vetting

3 days ago 0 0 0 0

Civil servants have to go through a very strict vetting process that Boris Johnson probably wouldn't have passed but you can't accuse him of failing to pass a vetting process that he never went through

A lot of people are citing this article as saying that Boris Johnson, like Mandelson, failed the vetting process when he was appointed foreign secretary but that's not what it says. As a cabinet minister he wouldn't have had a formal vetting to pass, the security services just didn't trust him.

Only one of those parties literally calls themselves The Green Party. Like, it's their founding thing.

I almost found the animation a little too smooth on the remaster but it honestly is stunning

Watched Akira at the cinema last night. The 4k remaster is beautiful and booming surround sound really brings the best out of the music. Still holds up as one of the greatest films ever, animated or otherwise #filmsky
