I've build DOOM in CSS and every wall, floor, barrel, and imp is a div, positioned in 3D space using CSS transforms.

Try it out! But... not every browser can handle it. This is taking the browser to its limit. Chrome has some issues. Safari too. Bugs will be filed.

great reporting here. basically yes DLSS 5 is running a gen AI model on the 2D output and nothing more. it doesn’t know anything about the 3D scene, textures / models / lighting / PBR other than what the model infers by looking at a frame.

The fact that Google, Nvidia, etc are all working on systems by which they can put their thumbs on the scales of what appears on your computer screen regardless of the underlying dataset has troubling implications for how computers are used generally.
The end of consensus reality continues apace. Again, I think this feeds into what I was saying about DLSS yesterday: the idea that you're looking at "real" data continues to erode.

The more CSS can do calcs like this the better. We have a lot of user controlled color choice and use JS to switch text color based on contrast ratio. The less we have to rely on JavaScript to do that the better for everyone.
