I'm grateful for all the support I've received during my first semester as an assistant professor at SWOSU, and very excited to incorporate pollination research to Western Oklahoma.

🌼🌡️ 🐝 Thermal conditions can directly reshape species interaction networks under climate change.
⬇️ In this invited short piece, I discuss how temperature-driven shifts in pollinators’ foraging choices, revealed by a new study, can cascade through entire plant–pollinator networks.
Weighted plant–floral visitor networks arranged by plant species partner diversity and contribution to nestedness from highest to lowest.
Network specialization increases plant reproductive success

Excited to share our most recent work in collaboration with @liedcarneiro.bsky.social . We link network properties with estimates of pollination success. Check it out!
Thrilled to share some thoughts on pollination research field as this fall semester gets started! Check it out if you're interested in researching on plant-pollinator interactions 🌸🐝😊👇🏼
Dr Liedson Carneiro on fieldwork.
Liedson Carneiro: "I believe it’s essential to build a strong foundation in natural history. Observing organisms in their environments and understanding their traits and behaviors sharpens your intuition and helps you ask meaningful questions."

🌸🐝 This is a nice piece on my most recent study, saying:
"The new work from northeastern Brazil delivers a clear message: evolution does not wait for the next Ice Age. It is happening now, [...] as flowers and their faithful couriers dance to a rhythm increasingly disrupted by a changing climate."

A blue bee! This is the blue carpenter bee, Xylocopa tumida.
I was SO excited to find this animal just before dawn at Trus Madi Entomology Camp in Borneo.
So full of beauty.

Excited to share that I’ll be starting this fall as an Assistant Professor of Plant Biology at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU)!
Looking forward to exploring the plants and bees of the region! 🌸🐝
🌅 Exciting things happen during twilight!
In our new Bot J Linn Soc paper, we explore crepuscular pollination of a Spondias tree that blooms at night, and is also visited by bees active only at twilight.
What drives this interesting interaction? 👉 doi.org/10.1093/botl...
🌸 Who knew the generalized flowers of our delicious Spondias (cajá, umbu and seriguela) could be so picky? 😄
💐 They welcome many visitors—but floral scents reveal secret favorites!
🚨 New paper out in J Appl Entomol!
Part of the special issue on Neglected Pollinators. doi.org/10.1111/jen....
Did you know social bees eat pollen directly at flowers while foraging? New pub in Apidologie - we investigate function of pollen eating on flowers, and potentially link it to quality assessment! Work w/ students & @annieleonard.bsky.social @jsfrancis.bsky.social

Very excited (and a bit nervous) to announce that I will be hiring two Postdocs for my new group(!) in Copenhagen to study the Neanderthal and Denisovan DNA which survives in present-day humans. Retweet will be much appreciated :)
