This by @naomialderman.bsky.social is a piece that actually gives me hope. People telling stories, making myths, extending the stories of others has too long been dispelled as time wasting. This says otherwise. Also Naomi mentions @openuniversity.bsky.social in it so it's a very good read!
Ever wondered why your child watches the same video over and over, or prefers playing on their own?
Mel Green explains what these behaviours can actually tell us and why understanding the ‘why’ changes everything.

A woman with long locs and glasses sits at a desk, resting her chin on her hand and smiling slightly at the camera. Behind her, a large computer monitor displays a webpage titled “Supporting neurodivergent children,” alongside an image of children holding hands outdoors. On the desk are notebooks, papers, and stacked books, suggesting a home office or workspace.
Today was the launch of the @theopenuniversity's "Supporting Neurodivergent Children" hub for which I contributed to toolkit giving parents tools and rights advice. Check it out at www.open.ac.uk/courses/choo....

Can't do much better than this really. A more interesting question is why people find it surprising.
Lots of people citing Starmer's various terrible decisions under this post but not sure anyone has recognised the damage he has done to children with additional needs and mental health issues with the parental blame and attendance policies he has enforced.
And what a pie!!
If you’re a parent of a young person with #SEND aged 16-19 and in receipt of home to school transport, please take a moment to fill in this short survey.
Contact particularly wish to hear from families who have been refused transport. Thank you.

Neoliberal austerity in universities has definitely made us way more vulnerable to attacks.
I am an educator so BSc in Psychology, a MSc in Education, and a MA in Creative Writing. I am a Lecturer in Education Studies with them now.
Wishing you all the best with your studies!
The OU is addictive, isn't it?! I started my undergrad in '04, finished that, got two masters with them and I'm five years into my EdD. I also started lecturing with the OU in 2017. Also I did my MA creative writing dissertation involved a comparison of The Power and Who Fears Death ☺️
Hey a thing I really don’t want to get lost here is that while Tylenol doesn’t cause autism, IT’S FINE TO BE AUTISTIC. Let’s not grant them the premise that autism should be eradicated in our way to correct the science, okay? Okay.

Last Friday, we lost our dear friend, @sareetadomingo.bsky.social. I wrote about the immense loss I feel in the following post: www.linkedin.com/posts/mel-gr.... I am still reeling and thinking deeply about her and her family. She was a beautiful soul and wonderful friend.
Diagram titled 'Possible causes of your problems'. On the left hand side, subtitled 'Yes': Funding removed from local councils, growing gap between rich and poor, multinational companies not paying their taxes, lack of new affordable housing, government not investing sufficiently in schools and healthcare. On the right hand side, subtitled 'No': Picture of small boat, with arrow; 'People fleeing horrific situations that you and I can't imagine'.
Possible causes of your problems. It’s a diagram that (sadly) still seems relevant in 2025, so reposting a year and a bit on.
Knock down Ginger. I grew up in Bedfordshire.

It's like dude, can you just be a person rather than a brand at least for introductions?!
Thank you. I cannot emphasise enough how much that irritated me.
I pre-ordered straight after I read the sentence that ended with ..."sense of wonder at the cosmos from a Black feminist perspective". This genuinely looks like a book I didn't know I needed but that I must have. So exciting!
I know genocide supporting ghouls lack empathy so I want them to imagine this was their neighbourhood. Islington maybe. The house you own - gone. Your neighbours - dead. The businesses where you met friends for coffee or brought food - destroyed

Check out my latest article, which explores how vocal accent, a seemingly auditory construct, reinforces the problematic idea that race is simply something we see.

Parents/carers/educators 👋 While our children still have a legal right to education & health care that meets needs, SEND charity IPSEA has excellent guidance on securing an effective EHCP/challenging a poor one. The template letters are super helpful 🙏 www.ipsea.org.uk/Pages/Catego...
