Some books don’t just tell a story — they remind you you’re not alone.

The Skies I’m Under by Rachel Wright is a tender, honest memoir of parenting a child with complex disabilities.

Raw, real, and deeply human.

A woman with long locs and glasses sits at a desk, resting her chin on her hand and smiling slightly at the camera. Behind her, a large computer monitor displays a webpage titled “Supporting neurodivergent children,” alongside an image of children holding hands outdoors. On the desk are notebooks, papers, and stacked books, suggesting a home office or workspace.

Today was the launch of the @theopenuniversity's "Supporting Neurodivergent Children" hub for which I contributed to toolkit giving parents tools and rights advice. Check it out at www.open.ac.uk/courses/choo....

What matters is that it’s recognised, valued, and supported. 💙

Facing the sun in Hainault Forest today.

Yesterday was the first day I had to take a “time out” to sit in the bedroom during this holiday. My son was overstimulated and sleep has been lacking and my husband finally feeling better as he has been unwell.

I took 45 minutes to myself.

Parent Carers who work from home - how do you balance your 💩 during holidays. Normally I find a routine and we get by but this Easter break has decided that routines are not on the agenda! #parentcarer

I’m still chugging away on the dreaded DLA form … I’m going to meet the Tuesday deadline by the skin of my teeth (I hope!).

Some daffodil word cards … because I’m not easily distracted, honest!

This is worth a read if you are an #OT in children's services, a #ParentCarer or anyone with an interest in SEND.
My fear is the cost to parents if tribunal rights are removed. Judicial reviews are so costly. More parents will be forced to home educate and face both poverty and insecurity.

I am out & making the most of some respite as one of my children is with the respite carer for a few hours.

I am reminded on an almost daily basis by my antipathy for basic jobs, that I am an exhausted and almost burned out #parentcarer

Parents of autistic kids, do you experience the ANXIETY when you know your kid is in the ‘danger zone’ of emotional disregulation, but you’re not able to adjust environment or their concerns..
