Yup. It would be nice if we could fund things that are good for Canadians just because they're good for Canadians, and without expecting them to turn a profit. We have become a self-destructive society that has swallowed the lie that everything in life must be profitized in order to be of value.

Ford wants to mark kids on attendance and introduce standardized exams, even though we *know* the problem is something else (plus the mental health crisis).

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

Thinking maybe I should just try and recreate my own Books2Read-style pages for each of my books on my website, just in case. Looks like D2D actually owns them now, so I'm guessing that dropping D2D will result in loss of Books2Read access, too. 🫠

It's not that I don't sympathize with auto, steel, and lumber industry workers. But they are *always* getting bailouts and "concern" from the government. Those industries are getting squeezed by tariffs, yes. But our creative industries are being *decimated* by gAI. And nobody seems to care at all.

Anyone know if it's possible to fix an old-school battery-operated digital camera? There must be some small business somewhere that does that, right? 😑
