I’m just googling all this but it seems that both flowers are very similar. The most distinctive difference is that little robin has yellow anthers v reddish brown for herb robert. There are several articles comparing the two. I would perhaps just call it a wild geranium!! It’s very interesting.

I think it’s Herb Robert (Geranium robertianum) and so does Wikipedia

I agree about 7 year olds. I was thinking more of this 5ft 70+ year old! I think it would not be an elegant scramble for me. Beautiful structure though. And I’m not sure I want a gate - accessibility mutes our landscape I think though obviously a good thing in general.

How wonderful to have a post that really describes that duck.

Every NATO country is working like hell behind the scenes. Entering into a public spat with a man who loves public spats isn't smart politics.

When all other options run out, sure, go public. For now, do diplomacy, which happens behind closed doors.

Starmer should immediately & unequivocally ban access to British airspace to US warplanes. The UK should not be accomplice to a US President who is threatening more war crimes. Period.

I almost always see something special - owls hunting, hares boxing, badgers playing at dusk, grebes dancing, starling murmurations and one special day of low cloud when a swift darted between my friend and I as we walked. It was drained during the enclosures of the C19th but is recovering well.

I’m so glad you have been - it is magical and gets better every year. Bittern are a real success story (I once in the late 70s went to Norfolk to try to spot one as that was the only place they were to be found) but the reclamation of the wetland at Otmoor has given a space to many creatures.

I’ve had hot cross buns because it’s Good Friday but no country walk - the weather is horrid. I was lucky enough to be at Otmoor on Tuesday though when there was a wonderful afternoon and at least one bittern booming - and one flew overhead!

Sorry - it does sound as if I was addressing you - it wasn’t meant to, I just intended to add it on to the general conversation.

Ah no, I know that. I just thought I would throw it into the mix 😊

I am of course pleased to see that increase - but please stop eliminating our badgers sooner rather than later. I understand there is a plan to stop issuing licenses - just do it NOW.

BBC Four - My Garden of a Thousand Bees Wildlife film-maker Martin Dohrn sets out to film over 60 species of bee in his garden.

If you want an hour of glorious #bee telly, then this is it.

As the caretaker of several bee residences with masons, leaf cutters & a myriad of others including hairy footed bees and tawny miners in the rest of my garden, this was an utter joy!! 😊❤️🐝

I’m so glad this is being screened again. I recorded it when it first was shown and watched it several times. It manages to be scientific but also to look at the relationship between humans and animals with a touching level of understanding. Wonderful work.

Are traps not bad enough? You want to make the poor creatures vomit as well? Just spray peppermint about - that will see them off 😊 Much as that chocolate would see off any romantic interests 🤣
