100% We live in truly depressing times, politically speaking.
I’d similarly hope not.
*Surely* there will be exemptions? And if so, does that mean such a “ban” isn’t working?
Can we finally agree that burning wood for energy is a terrible idea and won't be carbon neutral, let alone carbon negative, in our lifetimes? BECCS using wood certainly shouldn't qualify as CO₂ removal (CDR).
I did the Boston Marathon last year and I have to say that John Korir negative splitting the race, given the second half includes the Newton Hills, is one of the most impressive race performances I’ve *ever* seen 🤯 #RunSky
@peterbrannen.bsky.social I’m enjoying your CO2 book. Thanks for the tip!
Q: when you say oxygen is “pumped” into the air due to sequestration of carbon by sediment/rock burial, do you mean the ratio of O2 to CO2 increases, rather than the former actively being released by the buried material?

Fetishising or boosting about publishing in Nature is gross enough.
But softly framing the publishing of a *Correspondence* in Nature as being comparable to publishing a fully peer-reviewed article is very odd.
Sure, you have to pass muster with the Editor, but it’s really a different thing…
And the freedom to fail is a privilege that is unevenly distributed. Minorities of all kinds are afforded less of it.
I felt that sometimes the discourse took an overly binary view of success and failure. Often, theories that fall by the wayside can still be productive. /10
It reminds me of the whole NATURE………………scientific reports thing…

Wishing everyone celebrating Tamil New Year in Brent and beyond a joyful Puthandu.
Thank you for the rich culture and contributions Tamil communities bring to our borough. May the year ahead bring peace and new beginnings!

A place I feel like I shouldn’t like, but that I really, really do?
Venice.

Slumming it in Treviso, the birthplace of tiramisù…
