Death. I felt it for too long. I felt that existential dread; i was terrified of death. I didn’t want to be terrified, i’d just been through so much, so many lives of chaos then more chaos and even more chaos. I’d decided that, this time, i was not accepting death as an option, yet it was so close and stronger than ever. My experiments were starting to take off as magic awakened, and i would be in a new body soon. I could feel it looming closer. What would it be this time? A piano landing on my face? How cliche. Maybe i’d be hit by a car or flung off of a cliff? Perhaps a bear attack? No no, a sickness. Ding ding ding! Sudden illness would be the prize. A rare, incurable cancer for no apparent reason. I sighed, disgusted. Something had to give–what was taking so long??–more darkness needed to go, yes, that was the answer. I just needed time and magic needed to get a flaming move on.
