At every conference, I meet hardworking scientists and clinicians working on "DEI" topics- their passion and scientific integrity is something I will #standupforscience for!

We find wonderful biological discoveries in the most serendipitous of places, whether yielding glamorous medical breakthroughs or sensible incremental insights. We pursue science with curiosity and scientific integrity, and I will stand up to keep it this way. (3/3)

I wear some categories quietly: multiracial, ashkenazi, immunocompromised. Maybe my research now and in the future could be twisted to avoid any "DEI", but diverse research helps all of us. (2/3)

This is why I will be SUFS @standupforscience.bsky.social in DC today; These internal letters are disheartening to read from an organization I respected. When funding is actively denounced and rescinded for reaching out to impacted and diverse communities, this is an attack on science. (1/3)

Especially fond of the initial description of utility + pitfalls in simplifications, incorporation of considerable diversity as a feature not a bug, the discussion on models of alloreactivity, and the positive conclusion!

New non-canonical discoveries in immunology always leave me with a little bit of dread (how complex can things get???) but this manuscript helped quell those worries! Will be keeping my eyes open outside of B cell world a little more, lots to digest here and keep reading about!

Interested to see if these duplication events are productive and skewing expressed repertoire! Maybe we’ll be able to run some analysis if more of that paired data comes my way 👀

Although sometimes bits in blogs & mailing lists contain head-tilting conclusions or oversimplifications, the right mixture of moderation, discourse, and high + low effort can make these such endearing learning spaces (which countless folks before me have also compiled and curated)

There's a funny recursion in which I feel late to the party about this older post which laments being late to the party about older resources, but despite the FOMO these types of content have been such a personally invaluable jumping point for further deep dives or discussions

Bayesian approaches to differential gene expression | Statistical Modeling, Causal Inference, and Social Science

Blogs can hit that sweet spot of informal discussion spaces on complex topics (found this one when trawling for more scRNA differential gene testing insights) 🧬
