Short email thread between me and therapist

Me:
Part of it is: what if the me that's left after going through the madness is a really bad person?

Therapist:
What if they're not?

What if there is no alternative
To the madness?

What if the only way
To free myself

Is to allow myself to go insane, truly, fully?

Can I even stay safe?

Can I even maintain my necessities?

Questions
All I have are questions, posed with grim seriousness,
Not only by me but my brain-walker also

Sink,
Unwilling

But relief
When reality fades;

Paradox of desire
Lightning striking fire

Waterfall dreaming of tsunami
As ducks shelter in its mouth

Broken thoughts
Haze of scattered glass

I am many
I am one
I am sinking where I can't be found

My mind is not mine to command.

Pro tip: get a better cane tip for the bottom, you can get some that are squishier and/or more rain/weather friendly

If ur anything like me that one will wear out quicker than you think

Not so friendly reminder:

It's not "during COVID" in the past tense, it's "during lockdowns" or "during mandated COVID precautions".

COVID is still here and still actively killing and disabling people in mass numbers.

meme with the "male" and "female" symbols, with a vaguely identifiable photo of a cropped nipple inside of each, captioned:
(next to the male symbol) "safe-for-work, nonsexual, child friendly"
(next to the female symbol) "sexually explicit, adult nudity, dangerous to children"
Bottom caption: Make it make sense.

I'm still waiting for someone to offer an argument for why nipples that "look female" are "sexually explicit nudity" but nipples that "look male" are not, that doesn't boil down to "because misogyny."

Young adult happiness is falling. Percent of young people who are pretty or very happy has dropped from 88% to 76% over the last 15 years after having held fairly steady between 1980 and 2010

My hottest “I have no data to back this up” take is that phones aren’t making young people less happy. What’s making them less happy is living in a world where everyone is having their reality defined by recommendation algorithms that can only care about whether something keeps you watching.

Dr with Chronic illness
@fibroindiangirl

“Chronic illness isn’t just pain. It’s grieving a version of you that’s still technically alive. It’s watching life move forward while your body negotiates basic survival. It’s missing who you were and slowly realizing she isn’t coming back. You don’t bounce back from this. You adapt. And some days, the hardest part isn’t the symptoms. It’s the quiet understanding that this isn’t a phase. This is who you are now.”

My experience has been that doctors will give you a clear-cut, understandable diagnosis only if you wander in with, say, an ice pick protruding from your skull. And even then, you have to pretend that you don't know what's wrong. If you say, "I have an ice pick in my skull," the doctor will become irritated, because he spent all those years in medical school and he's damned if he's going to accept opinions from an untrained layperson such as yourself. "It conceivably could be an ice pick," he'll say, in a tone of voice that suggests he's talking to a very stupid sheep, "but just in case I'm going to arrange for a test in which we remove a little snippet of your liver every week for eight weeks."

An infographic featuring handwritten text surrounded by various pastel-colored speech bubbles. The central text reads, "Things I HATE about invisible illness."

The surrounding bubbles include the following points:

Appointments spaced out months apart with no help in between.

Uber to appointments miles away just to be kicked out in 4 minutes.

The fluorescent lights at every healthcare space.

    Feeling terrified to self-advocate.

Begging for referrals that take months and yield nothing.

Explaining my history over and over again.

Spending more time in waiting rooms than with the doctor.

Tests that take months to book and seconds to dismiss.

Having everything attributed to my mental health.

Paying for meds that may or may not work.

    Not having answers.

Always questioning if it is really all my imagination.

Knowing my life is not at risk yet not being able to LIVE!

The helpless feeling from being at the mercy of a broken sy

Hey Cis ppl, your allyship is based on your actions & actually supporting us. Simply being okay with us existing doesn’t cut it. Acting like your allyship is a thing to be earned means you’re not only not an ally, you’re a bad fucking person.
