Really enjoyed revisiting @universityofleeds.bsky.social where I did my first postdoc with @mariabeger.bsky.social a few years ago

Great to catch up with old friends, meet new people, and share some of my current research

First day of our ECR training event. A gentle start as the typhoon delayed participants from Phils. 1-1 surgeries with our Indonesian team members were productive nonetheless - advancing their analysis and patching up knowledge gaps! Super fun and heart warming to see the enthusiasm! #ClimateREEFS

Arrived at Kota Ambon to start work with the members of the #ClimateREEFS project for the next two weeks. But first I was greeted by a cat mama with her two nuggets, and a tropical thunderstorm! Perfect!!! #CLimateAdaptationREsilience @priestleycentre.bsky.social @mariabeger.bsky.social

A generic model of life satisfaction: The case study of parkrun Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5 km run or walk with the aim of creating ‘a healthier, happier planet’. The aim of this study is to use a survey of parkrun to create a model of life satisfaction tha...

Anyone who knows me a bit knows I'm utterly obsessed with #parkrun. It has changed my life and I will forever rope more people into it. I am very happy to see this published journals.plos.org/globalpublic... #freeforeveryoneforever @parkrunaustralia.bsky.social @parkrunuk.bsky.social

The ClimateREEFS team has had a wonderful time at #AF2025 showcasing our research on small scale fishery sustainability. Similar challenges but many solutions in climate adaptation. We are in this together. #CLimateAdaptationREsilience @adaptationfutures.bsky.social @priestleycentre.bsky.social

From surprise platypus to wandering cane toads, here’s what we found hiding in NSW estuaries Researchers worked with Indigenous Rangers to map life in 34 estuaries across NSW using environmental DNA - and made a host of unexpected discoveries.

Curious about what lives in NSW (Australia) estuaries?

We established a new open access baseline with more than 10,000 taxa for >250 sites using #eDNA methods.

Short summary online today with links to video and a site map

And I learnt that #NewCaledonia is one of the few places in the world where Nautiluses are found in the shallows. And it's also in the emblem of NC.

It's certainly not everyday that we see a #Nautilus in the wild, with our own eyes. But today was the day! Here it was hanging out in the lagoon, in less than 5m of water, with its own Chrysiptera taupou (Southseas devil) friend.

All this is made better and even more fun by excellent colleagues on the survey team Dom Muenzel @bioscienceleeds.bsky.social and Brian Stockwell from Uni South Pacific. Here they are as handsome underwater models.

We are surveying entire communities in the outer #reefs and the lagoons - doing UVCs, benthic photo transects and eDNA. This gives us a really comprehensive picture of the diversity and abundance reef life here.
