A digital informational graphic from whn.global about telehealth.

At the top, there are six small colored dots (pink, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue, and gray). Below them, a blue button with white text reads:
WHY TELEHEALTH?

The main text in bold white font states:
"Telehealth saves time traveling to and from appointments."

Below, in smaller white text:
"Those without access to transportation and those who live far from their healthcare providers rely on telehealth to see their clinicians."

The background image is a photograph of a traffic jam on a highway, showing cars, trucks, and a bus stuck in congestion. In the distance, modern office buildings, including one with a Toshiba logo, can be seen. The sky is cloudy.

Telehealth saves time traveling to and from appointments โ€“ and that means less disruption to work and other daily activities. Those without access to transportation and those who live far from their healthcare providers rely on telehealth to see their clinicians.

This is a vertically-stacked image showing increasing probability of a public health impact from bird flu. It moves from the bottom to top starting with: baseline risk of a pandemic (2%), to mass infections in wild birds; mass infections in poultry; spillover to mammals; sustained transmission in mammals; sporadic human cases; lots of sporadic human cases; sustained transmission in pigs; human-to-human spread in cluster; multiple clusters of human-to-human spread; human-to-human spread across countries. We are at the "Lots of sporadic human cases" step.

@kkjetelina.bsky.social is always great, but this figure on the increasing probability of risk of an H5N1 bird flu pandemic is particularly helpful. yourlocalepidemiologist.substack.com/p/h5n1-updat...

Address science misinformation not by repeating the facts, but by building conversation and community For science to have a meaningful impact on a group of people, new information needs to spread between trusted members of that community.

To build support for science, it's not enough to just share facts. We need open conversations between scientists and people who are unsure. Social networks, while spreading false information, can also help share the truth.

Love this question ๐Ÿค“ Iโ€™m passionate about both, especially where they intersect, i.e., helping people understand post-infectious chronic conditions and making sure those with chronic illnesses have the info they need to lower their risk of infections.

Blue background with an illustration of birds flying. Text reads, "What to know about bird flu. Bird flu, also known as HPAI and H5N1, is currently at a low risk for human infection. Keep yourself and your pets away from wild, sick, or dead birds and surfaces with bird droppings. Wash your hands often with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds, especially after handling animals or animal products. Use a food thermometer to make sure poultry and eggs reach the internal temperature of 165ยฐF, and 160ยฐF for beef. Avoid drinking raw milk and consuming any raw milk products." The Boston Public Health Commission logo is at the bottom next to text that reads, "Learn more at boston.gov/avian-flu."

We're tracking Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) which has existed among wild bird populations in Massachusetts since 2022. Risk of human infection is currently low. Avoid contact with sick, injured, or dead birds and report it to mass.gov/reportbirds or call 311.
