Sorry to say, but DFO is an utter disgrace. The $ doesn't even make sense, with the consequence of collapsing the food web! Shocking, terrifying, heart-breaking. www.nationalobserver.com/2026/01/21/n...
"Nature is clearly the best designer!" This post offers
🌸 visual impressions of plants (from bare soil to complexity)
🦅 benefits of seeding (i.e., less crow damage)

Thanks, @carmenschan.bsky.social I'm so happy you were able to visit it last July. Much respect and appreciation for all the good work you do. Three cheers for meadow stewards 🐝 🌸 🌸
Nice! Love the small green roof on the shelter, and how about a solar green roof on the building? Embrace all the synergies. City of Vancouver technically approved the motion for i) green roof bylaw and ii) solar roofs.
I'm grateful for the rigour and independent journalism championed by thenarwhal.ca.

October is meadow sowing time! I'm pleased to have curated a diverse, all-native seed blend for City of North Vancouver:
🌿 1400sf #meadow at West Keith and Bewicke
☘️ seeded Oct. 17 on prepared soil
🌸 curated for extended bloom
🌻 species from the rain shadow of Van Isle
💙 no irrigation needed
@grinbc.bsky.social will support this intiative by offering education & trainings on #greeninfrastructure maintenance. "As youth unemployment soars and climate anxiety deepens, a youth training and employment program focused on climate resiliency offers hope" www.nationalobserver.com/2025/10/03/n...
I just helped Dogwood's work to organize BC-ians to reclaim decision-making power over our land & democracy. www.dogwoodbc.ca/donate/?utm_...
“History shows it clearly, austerity creates the conditions in which fascism thrives. When Gov'ts strip away public services, weaken safety nets and deepen inequality, people lose hope in democracy and turn to authoritarian strongmen.’” . - Richard Murphy
Being Anti-Fascist is important but we need to also be aware about Fascism's root causes.
I’m pleased to share that I’ve obtained my Pollinator Steward Certification from Pollinator Partnership. It shows that I have a science and life-cycle based understanding of #pollinator needs, and understand #habitat creation according to those principles. Get in touch: let's make more meadows!
Glad you made it to the first site, Carmen!
Stunning!
Amazing news! If anyone, Avi Lewis.
Lovely #raingarden walking tour yesterday! Any excuse to use my organizer yodel is a good one 🎶 #greeninfrastructure #seeingisbelieving #stormwater #biodiversity #urbanecology
Human-made global warming ‘caused two in three heat deaths in Europe this summer’.

On Sept. 16, GRIN will host a rain garden walking tour in East Vancouver. Please share with your networks! #greeninfrastructure #raingardens #climateresilience #biodiversity #stormwater
Completed in 2019, "Aglaya" is a 70m high garden condo tower in the Suurstoffi area of Rotkreuz. Trees are planted in pre-fabricated, permanent troughs. Detailed greening concepts were developed for each of the 85 homes. www.baunetzwissen.de/gerueste-und... #urbanforest #urbantrees #urbanecology
MFO Park is a "symbiosis of industry and nature. The scaffolding maintains the dimensions of the original building, creating a link with the area’s industrial past." #greenfacades #livingwalls #urbanecology #climateresilience #publicpark
Inside perspective at MFO Park, in Zurich-Oerlikon. The concept of "volume" was a central element of the park's design, in honouring the history of the space and its new public function. Very 3-dimensional! #greenfacade #livingwalls #urbanecology #coolcities #climbers #plants #waterharvest
Hello, #greenfacade! The site of the former Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon (MFO) in Zürich is covered by a double-walled latticework steel construction that is open on three sides, and covered by hundreds of climbing plants. Plants are irrigated by water captured on site. #livingwalls #urbanecology
My favourite #greenroof in flower, what a treat! Zurich's Lake Water Filtration Plant (built 1914) is covered by 9-acres of wet meadow, a now-extinct ecosystem in the region. The roof supports 175 spp of plants, incl 9 orchids and the rare Anacamptis morio. #orchid #biodiversity #urbanecology
Good spot!
Unlike most places, swimming in Switzerland is dreamy because of tertiary water treatment. #waterquality #biodiversity #stormwater #sewage #treatment #waterislife
As I know this place well this is a great article and so true - also as I involved in ‘buildings’ what I think is strategic abt this story is the houses are sold - come live in #nature. So don’t chase the coin chase the future.
Just a heads up that this summer, folks with climate expertise should be pitching and publishing op-eds for the 30th anniversary of the Chicago heat wave, 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, and 5th anniversary of the August Complex fire in California
