The Moon is tidally locked so one side always faces us.
From that side, Earth is a permanent fixture in the sky 13 times larger and 43 times brighter than the Moon appears from Earth.
Four humans photographed this.

‘I'm pleased and happy to repeat the news that we have, in fact, decided not to destroy an entire civilisation. But, as you see, it's a beautiful day, The Strait of Hormuz is open and people are having a wonderful time.’
NASA just dropped this image of Artemis II astronaut Christina Koch looking back at us. The first woman to ever see our planet in its entirety. I’m not crying you’re crying 🥹🔭🧪 📸: NASA

The steadily growing population of rare lesser horseshoe bats in the shed (roughly 100) attests to the level of flying insect life in the forest outside, since each bat catches around 3,000 per night.
Healthy nature depends on healthy, wild, functioning *ecosystems*.
Rewilding delivers that. 🌏
This is a shocking indictment of public policy.
More science good news!! A temperature-stable, single injection rabies vaccine is in animal trials and they hope to move to human trials soon. This would be a fucking game changer for vaccination programs!
Cyclist in collision with truck. Pedestrian struck by bus.
The driver is absent from the account. The vehicle is given agency. The vulnerable road user is positioned as the active party.
A subtle but powerful way of shifting blame, shaping how we think about road deaths diminishing accountability.
This only happens to you once
In 2016 Geoffrey Hinton said “we should stop training radiologists now" since AI would soon be better at their jobs.
He was right: models have outperformed radiologists on benchmarks for ~a decade.
Yet radiology jobs are at record highs, with an average salary of $520k.
Why?

1956 university of Michigan Children’s Hospital. Three-year-old Peggy Kennedy enjoyed these ducklings paddling around in a tub. Peggy, a polio patient, wore a plastic chest respirator. The ducklings were donated by a local farmer to help cheer up the children.
This is what happens without vaccinations.
The ducks are adorable.
The hospitalized child with a respirator is tragic.
And now preventable.
Madagascan Comet Moth (Argema mittrei). 20cm (7.9in) wingspan. This is a moth native to the rain forests of Madagascar. The adult moth cannot feed and only lives for 4 to 5 days. It is sadly endangered in the wild due to habitat loss. Brilliant photo shared by Stuart Gopee. #moths #nature #wildlife

With 12,500 bike parking spaces, Utrecht Centraal Station is one of the best examples the Dutch have to offer of the seamless way they’ve chained the bicycle and the train into a single form of mobility that connects people to all of their daily needs: housing, employment, education, and healthcare.

"Infants too young to be vaccinated rely on all of us to help protect them thru community immunity. Vaccination is not just about protecting yourself-it's about protecting your family, your neighbors, & especially children who are too young to be vaccinated."

While Guatemala, Mexico, and Belize plan to protect 14 million acres of forest, Ireland continues to do little to protect the 1% natural forest coverwe have left. The same with all our other habitats + wildlife.
For nature, WE are the third world country.

The capital of Finland hasn't had a traffic death in a full year. Lower speed limits, plentiful speed cameras, 1,500+ km of bike lanes, infrastructure for pedestrians, and a new tram line.
When you prioritize people and not vehicles, you can save lives while protecting the environment.

-The infant morality rate was 24.7/1000; it’s 5.6/1000 now.
-Overall life expectancy was 70 years; it's about 77 years now.
