especially love the end of eir bio on this piece: "If you liked this story, please do one small task to advocate for immigration reform in your area, if you can safely do so. If you cannot safely do so, the story is for you."
catching up on old (...by 3 months, lol) published pieces: another one from @bogiperson.bsky.social that hits so hard, especially right now. appreciate eir writing so much, as always ❤️

YOU MUST MAINTAIN YOUR STRENGTH AND POWER! TAKE YOUR MEDICATIONS.
There was a hole in my precious seattle garages mike townsend t shirt sleeve. So I cut off the sleeves and now have a hot mike townsend tank top. 😎
In true blaseball spirit, this has been today’s procrastination activity lol

The ideal reading would include some statistics debunking common myths/misinformation, eg. trans people are not assaulting anyone in bathrooms & HRT is proven to be lifesaving medical care (but again must include some basics)
Very appreciative of any suggestions 🙏🏼
My class is research based and we talk about many social issues (eg police brutality, refugee crises, labor rights) but they at least have some familiarity with these, and the same is not true for even understanding what “transgender” means (sigh)
Hi bluesky 👋🏼 long time no see lol. Came to ask for recs — I teach English 101 at a community college and I’m looking for readings on the gender binary, trans identity, transphobia, etc that are accessible with very little understanding of queer/trans identity
President Trump’s unauthorized military action in Venezuela is unconstitutional, dangerous, and an impeachable abuse of power. Congress alone has the authority to declare war and Trump is once again ignoring the law to serve his own interests.
My full statement:
Screenshot of the challenges page on the Storygraph app. Text says the user (me lol) read 22 books this year out of a goal of 70 books. Storygraph helpfully points out this is 31% of the books and that I only need to read 46 books to get back on track.
signs it has been a rough year 😓😅
Hey you can support some trans folks on the Trans Day of Remembrance!
Donate to the Trans Lifeline if you can. Or to someone's gofundme. It's a rough time out there.

I’ve been losing steam on this because I’m at a point where I would really love an actual grammar explanation but alas this is not the platform for it. So. We’ll see if we actually hit 600 🤞🏼
Duolingo owl rising in orange and yellow with the text “I’m on a 500 day learning streak!”

I wanted to boost the accounts of the three families from Gaza I have been focusing on posting - here is a thread of what is going on with them.
They are all doing really badly and there is just no food.
Let's all fight back against the right wingers who want to silence our voices as a prelude to silencing us for good! #queersky #booksky #queeradultsff
We're disabled and queer. 🏳️🌈 We sell our writing to eat.
We launched two book sales — each has 20 books for $30. Itch bowed to conservative pressure, and hid them without warning.
Do you agree this is bullshit? Then help us make them pay.

They have no gods. They work magic, and think they are gods themselves. But they are not. And when they die, they become dust and bone, and their ghosts whine on the wind a little while till the wind blows them away. They do not have immortal souls.

I think a lot of people don't quite understand the impact of these bills on queer kids. On the more extreme end, for a lot of kids it's the possibility of severe mental-health struggles and suicidal ideation - but I also think something could happen on a smaller scale where kids, because they cannot be themselves, would rather choose to not be anyone. If I hadn`t been able to change my name, I don't know ifI would choose to go onstage for the school play, if I would choose to be in my poetry club. There's a whole bunch of kids who don't get to thrive because they're stuck in this place where they're suffering and there's not really a way out of that" -Jude, 18, he/they, Louisiana
18-year-old Jude on laws banning gender-affirming care:

The first one is right!
I wrote a poem the first go-around and published it in @rejectionlit.bsky.social rejection-letters.com/2020/10/08/t...

Of all of these MONSTRILIO stands out as a favorite - such a beautiful portrayal of grief and monstrosity - as does Ed Yong’s AN IMMENSE WORLD. Both have stayed on my mind for months. But I had a lot of 5 star reads this year!
(Beastars also a favorite, if that wasn’t obvious lmao)
