In October 2024, conservationists from the Zoological Society of London, the NGO Ranita de Darwin & other partners rescued 53 southern Darwin’s frogs from the forests of Tantauco Park, Chile.
They collected the frogs before they could be affected by the chytrid fungus, a deadly infectious disease.

Several sketchy drawings of a funny looking Darwin's Frog. It is very round and has a pointed nose tip. Text is displayed on the page alongside each sketch: "Most green individuals are brooding males" , "Looks like leaf litter" , "The nose is actually just skin" , Male carries 5-8 tadpoles in his vocal sac" , Huge color varieties" , "Thumbnail sized" , "Fat Leaf of a frog"
Did a small study of the Darwin's frog (Rhinoderma darwinii) yesterday to cool down 🐸 I don't usually draw amphibians so it was a nice change to learn forgs
Does this mean these frogs are ribbited together?
I’ll see myself out.

Darwin's frog (Rhinoderma darwinii) has a unique brooding method. When the embryos begin to move in the eggs, the male ingests them and keeps them in his vocal sac for about 6 weeks until metamorphosis. The male is able to eat while carrying the tadpoles.
