These weeks, students Antía and Ana began their projects describing a color cline of Nucella lapillus in the Galician rías. With the Ría de Vigo nearly completed, many hours of sampling and processing are already in. Stay tuned—exciting results ahead!
Thanks to Antía for the video editing! 🎥

Our colleague Ramón Guerra presented his Master’s thesis this week working on mucus tracking among ecotypes and color morphs of Littorina saxatilis. His results shed light on sexual selection in maintaining polymorphisms and limiting gene flow between ecotypes.
Great work and dedication, Ramón! 🎉

One of the bumblebee snails is sporting a fancy mushroom coral accessory. It's called fashion, look it up 😂

Dende 2022, as axudas á investigación non executadas non se reasignan. Parte dos fondos públicos para ciencia pérdense: proxectos que non saen, contratos que non se renovan e talento que marcha, en gran medida por trabas administrativas e prazos ríxidos. 👇🏼 (1/2)

An illustration of Hypercium elodes, or St John's Wort, a tall leafy stalk with yellow flowers at the top.
An illustration of Gentiana pneumonanthe, or the Marsh Gentian. A long thin stem with thin leaves in pairs, and two blue buds at the top.
It's #WorldWetlandsDay today! While considering what we can all do to protect these vulnerable ecosystems, we're sharing some botanical illustrations of marsh flowers from 'English Botany', a collaborative work between James Sowerby and Sir James Edward Smith.

Great Littorina Research Community meeting this week! 🐌🌊🐚
The Fiasco team crushed the presentations 🎯 and the feedback was amazing 💗
So many valuable inputs — we can't wait for the next steps! ! 💪✨
New results on Littorina fabalis ecotypes! 🐌
Inversions aren't just enabling parallel adaptation to wave exposure in France & Sweden, they're also hotspots for site-specific differences, including a striking color QTL associated with one inversion but only in France.
