Just another scene on the streets of Hà Nội #Vietnam

Things are happening so fast and there are so many people in Hà Nội #Vietnam that I had to be so quick when taking a photo. One of the reasons why I love #streetphotography - it’s so dynamic. I love interesting faces.

In Hà Nội #Vietnam, you can get anything repaired in the middle of a crowded street.

These are broader laneways away from the main streets where locals live in the heart of the city in Hà Nội, #Vietnam

A typical scene off the main streets of Hà Nội in #Vietnam. Locals have their homes, shops and where they gather for chats. #blackandwhitephotography #streetphotography #photography#travel
Someone had placed it there with intention. For me, it’s a reminder that not only should I seek the beauty in the present but also create the beauty and joy for myself.

I took this in some alley way in Hà Nội, #Vietnam. It’s like an analogy to life: sometimes you cannot wait for the joy or the beauty - you create it. It seemed so random that outside of this run down building, here was this simple vase with some flowers in it.
Behind a strange market, I could hear shouts. As my street photographer guide Huy walked us into a non-descript worn down hall, there was a furious match of table tennis going on. How random! Hà Nội, #Vietnam

A rare sight in the busy city of Hà Nội #Vietnam … an empty chair with no one sitting on it watching the world go by.

Like a metaphor for life and anyone’s brains.

After editing a majority of my photos from my recent holiday in colour, I can’t help myself. The good thing about having digital photographs is the flexibility to make creative choices. I saw a quote today: “Colour is just a distraction” and it went to the core of why I love monochrome.
I had set myself the challenge of leaving my photos in colour. You see, I love black and white photography. I took a 3 month hiatus from taking photos because I felt so uninspired. I thought to myself: I need to reinvigorate my love for photography.

Another one of my favourites. She was just sitting there watching the chaos of a Friday night in Hà Nội #Vietnam. She had seen it all.

What fascinated me the most was how anything and everything was sold in shops or roadside stands like this in Hà Nội #Vietnam.

They were sitting there having their chat with the front door open on to the street. I wanted to catch the glare but they broke into smiles instead. The people of Hà Nội #Vietnam are very friendly.

Cultures, ethnicities and lifestyle might be different. But what we all seem to have in common beyond our humanity is the ubiquitous mobile phone. Hà Nội #Vietnam

A typical eatery in Hà Nội, #Vietnam; they sit on these low chairs, have something to eat, drink beer and chat.

Another scene from the market where you buy all sorts of things that were acquired by ‘other’ means. Hà Nội, #Vietnam

“Thieves’ market” where everything on sale has been, shall we say, not bought. An interesting market in Hà Nội #Vietnam. #streetphotography #photography #travel #people
A much lesser load in this photo. This was taken in the “thief’s market” where you can find anything from stolen scooters to stolen parts of any contraption. From faucets, to bolts … literally anything that can be stolen, you could buy it for cheap here.
Hà Nội, #Vietnam
The physics don’t seem to make sense but apparently they do. The amount of things carted around on scooters is a sight to behold, including sometimes the number of children. This is how deliveries are made in Hà Nội in #Vietnam

Hà Nội, #Vietnam seems to be stuck in the past in so many ways especially in the Old Quarter. I can see why there is no desire for change as it is what is attractive to tourists and to locals alike.#streetphotography #photography #travel #culture
Admittedly, I became tired of all the colour photos because I favour black and white photos so much. To my relief, this photo was not 100% sharp where I needed it to be, which gave me the opportunity to play with textures.
