26th (today): 1x Cossus cossus, cocoon + pupa #moths

(24th-25th-26th): 8+10+90= 108x Aglais urticae #butterflies

(24th) Axylia putris 1x #moths

Today: 49x Aglais urticae (only took a few pictures). #butterflies

20th (backlog), 1x Melanchra persicariae.

Another Lacanobia oleracea.

That's probably the idea, to scare off predators. It's a common feature on many moths' and butterflies' wings for that purpose. :)

I'm not sure if there is a favourite nectar plant for them but I've seen them visit flowering trees such as apple trees and cherry trees. The caterpillars live on Urtica dioica (stinging nettle).
