Things stressful [almost] everywhere in healthcare. Research/academic funding, unknowns re medicare/ medicaid /preventive health future, primary care shortage shifts care to specialists, no med prices/authorization control

Still see very sick patients who all share this: a deep sense of insecurity

I’m, too, losing hair watching this.

Good game and looking better in second quarter😊

Prioritizing threes has been a Celtics strategy all along (with a 3-point scoring percentage of ~35%+). But it sometimes can be painful to watch if they don’t shoot well or in close games.

Thank you for donating to Sugarbush Workers Need Your Support to Protest <div>We are fundraising to support employees who will walk out of work at the Sugarbush Ski Resort on March 1st and 2nd, to protest the politics of JD Vance who plans to ski at the Resort then. Your s...

JD Vance is deciding to take a nice relaxing ski trip this weekend. Many of the staff at the resort (including my coworker's husband) are calling out of work in protest.

I know there's a lot going on right now, but if you can support them, it would help them a lot.

When evidence-based arguments are the enemy, yet evidence-based data are typically what’s in our tool box, coming up
with a strategy is a huge challenge. But agree that when dealing with retaliatory bullies we should follow advice we give kids: hold the anger, take a deep breath, think.

A #measles outbreak has infected 24 ppl in TX, most <18yo, all unvax’d & NINE are hosp’d. Measles is very contagious—we will see more cases. This is completely preventable & is a result of misinfo. & anti-vax sentiments that are causing parents to make poor decisions. Vaccines work. #BlueSky #MedSky

The one thing that brings me hope on this very dark day for our nation's health is this:

The most important factor in a patient's decision to get vaccinated is a strong recommendation from a health care provider who they trust.

Not a mycologist and not so hot, but for the non mycologist:

fungal markers of course. hate and love them. “fungal markers negative” (phew?). glucan 230 (🤷🏻‍♀️?). BAL galactomannan and invasion (?).
and… the consult to interpret a test because it was ordered

Also, double coverage in “bad” disease

Ours should definitely give a new [temporary?] home to the disappeared cdc guidelines.

Waiting to see in what form or shape the #STI, #PEP and #PrEP GL Webpages will return. Undermining health care providers in need of evidence based guidance, patients and the many hours of hard work and thought that went by so many into creating and updating GL.

RFK Jr. is thinking about disbanding vaccine advisory groups like NVAC and ACIP altogether. This dovetails with Trump’s cancellation of February’s National Vaccine Advisory Council meeting. These groups constantly monitor and evaluate the safety and efficacy of established and new vaccines.

The suspension of PEPFAR is not acceptable, not even for a moment. You cannot *threaten* taking someone’s HIV meds away, much less actually do it. The HIV medical community cannot stand for it. Shall we protest? @gregggonsalves.bsky.social @idsainfo.bsky.social @paulsaxmd.bsky.social

This is that polarizing day in our house the #Lakers (17) play the #Celtics (18🤷🏻‍♀️).

In an annoying West Coast move it’s at 10PM, little do they know the Celtics fan is naturally up late with 2 canines wearing green and a teen who’s been indoctrinated early. 💚☘️

Hope many state and local health departments in the US will choose to continue communicable disease surveillance and reporting. Or else we work blindfolded.

1 year ago 2 0 0 0

NIH is the engine that drives most medical research in the US. Its discoveries are why your relative with cancer is alive. Why HIV is no longer fatal. This is chaos for the sake of chaos.

I get it. But he calls him a cynic, which grants him a level of sophistication he (RFK) hasn’t earned . I argue he’s simply a denialist and a populist — and one with a potential to harm many. Tough times for evidence based science.

denialist more than a skeptic. That word appeared only at the end of the op ed.

We watch her in [major] crisis management. On TV she seems nothing but highly professional, competent, knowledgeable, calm, and articulate.

Fires still raging, overwhelming. This is the time to applaud the dedication and heroism of first responders, not throw political punches. Simply sad to see.

To all #IDSky and #MedSky #LACounty area friends and colleagues: we’re watching the [magnitude of the] fires and destruction with disbelief and heartbreak and are thinking of you, your families, neighbors, patients. Hard to comprehend the impact or know how to support/help from afar. Sending 💙

True re convenience. Here’s my response to @amtatara.bsky.social b4: “rezafungin gel and ointment were studied for vvc (mostly albicans) but abandoned. It did not perform well in the few non albicans infections. Not certain iv will offer more than mica or be approved x less doses.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

yep. but vvc may not need a long course. we give fluc x1-2 often. will give 3-7d here give severity and duration
