Great to see the progress being made for the new Beaulieu Park Rail Station in Essex, due to open in 2025 - the first to open along this line in 100 years!

So what does that mean for planning in Active Travel and Accessibility? So much that you’ll need to read my post on LinkedIn to find out!

Great read from @adamtranter.bsky.social ⤵️

Technology should not be introduced at the expense of pedestrian freedom to use the highway safely and conveniently. We need to make sure that the most vulnerable road users are protected and prioritised so that our streets work for all.

We closed Abbeville Road in Clapham to cars for a few hours today and something truly radical and transformative happened.

We saw a community grow.

People came out to chat, laugh, listen, gossip, eat, drink and share.

Just proves that streets are for people not just for cars.

SUVs are more dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists than standard cars – study Researchers gathered data from more than 680,000 road collisions over the past 35 years.

#NationalWalkingMonth starts tomorrow when we begin celebrating the #MagicOfWalking, but today's news is a harsh reminder of the dangers we can face while trying to enjoy something as simple as walking and wheeling.

Breaking news! @sportengland.bsky.social's #ActiveLivesSurvey shows that walking for leisure has increased by 6.8%. That's over 3 million adults in England who are walking more! But there’s clearly a need for safer, more pleasant streets, as fewer people are walking for travel. 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

70% of wheelchair users said pavement parking was a regular problem, forcing them into the road.

London can ban pavement parking; why can't the rest of the country?

There seems to be widespread support for it; for example, 78% of Daily Express readers back a ban.

Let's do it.

Delighted to launch the Pedestrian Pound, third edition report in Wales today to a full and engaged audience. As well as pedestrians=pounds for high streets, and savings for health care, we discussed the importance of behaviour change and how children can be the driver, amongst other key matters

When I talk #accessibility. I often talk toilets. 250,000 disabled people couldn’t access public toilets so we had to change it. Proud of everyone who made this happen; 543 installations. From lockdown conversations to £30m from DfT, CPT users were integral throughout 🙌

February is #LGTBHistoryMonth 🏳️‍🌈

Last summer, we organised an LGBTQ+ history walk around Cardiff city centre with @queeremporium.bsky.social

It wasn't just a walk, but a celebration of queer history and a call for more inclusive urban spaces.
