The fast track process effectively excludes members of the public having a say through the “proper” channels. It consolidates power in the hands of politicians and corporate stakeholders who put short term financial gain above the grave cost to our wild natural places and future generations.

We’re here to say enough is enough. We will not stand idly by while Bathurst encroaches further into Happy Valley and towards the Denniston Plateau and Mt Frederick.
❤️🔥🌲❤️🔥🌲Hungry Coal Monster: The coal mining industry will always be looking for ways to stay alive; looking for more old growth forest to chop down, more coal to dig up, to burn, to heat the climate more. There are many parts of the world that are becoming too hot for human habitation.
🌲✊🌲Places like these and the Denniston Plateau are NOT replaceable. Once they are gone they are gone forever.
Nearby waterways existing mines have been stripped of life, not a single freshwater insect recorded. Landscapes turned into wasteland. The extraction of resources, ecosystems, and future stability is unjustifiable in a climate and biodiversity crisis.
That’s right conservation land that is home to endemic, rare, and endangered species and ancient plant communities. While only 1% of Bathurst's revenue goes to local communities.
The emissions from the proposed mine on the Denniston Plateau will be equivalent to Aotearoa’s entire annual carbon footprint. And for what? Most of the coal will be exported while the environmental cost is left here on public conservation land.

🌀⛈️ And catastrophes, like the fatal Mount Maunganui landslide, January’s tropical storms in the upper North Island, and record-breaking Wellington winds in February.
💨 🌡️ Not only are #cruise ships like the Norwegian Spirit spitting out emissions, they are also dumping tonnes of CO₂ into the atmosphere. Cruises are one of the most carbon-intensive ways to travel with daily emissions far higher than flying.

☠️ ❌ The proposed arsenic mine at Sam’s Creek in Golden Bay & the expansion of a coal mine at Denniston Plateau will both see large scale destruction of our natural environment.
It’s a climate emergency and we need to be looking past corporate advertising and making decisions that help reduce emissions not increase them. It’s the height of selfishness to buy a high-end high emission vehicle right now.
🚘💨 Armstrong Prestige in Ōtepoti specialise in high emissions vehicles such as SUVs and luxury models. These cars emit 3-4 times the amount of carbon per km than even an economical petrol vehicle!
🥵 ⛈️ 🌀 There is no place for luxury emissions in a climate emergency!
