Thank you Jehannine!
I appreciate your compliment repost Jay, thank you - so great to have the support of fellow artists πποΈπ¨
My pleasure!!
watercolour painting of a lake shoreline with the sun shining through trees, all reflected in calm water at sunset. Colours range from ultramarine blue, majenta and gold in the sky to jet black trees.
Celebrating #Earthday "Call of Silence" (Watercolour, 24 x 48") I chose this for the sense of calm & silence to ease your stress while scrolling - hope it helps. Also, we are planning a return trip to this remote lake in B.C. this summer, and it is very much on my mind. Also, water is everything.
Friday in the studio: New watercolour nearing completion. This piece has been an exercise in patience (lost it a few times) and concentration (also hard to maintain these days!) but I loved the challenge. This level of detail is meditative and satisfying. Happy Friday, friends. #canadianartist #artπ¨π¦
Thanks for posting this Jay. I'm looking forward to seeing your site! (And, I definitely need to renovate my own π¬)
I feel bad making anyone mad or sad, rather, I hope my work inspires glad (ness) but thank you lad for the reference, you are rad. (Clearly, I need to work on poetry, but you get my point) Thank you Jeffrey!
New work coming soon! #canadianart #canada #canadianlandscape
Stand up for Alberta, for Canada.
I love professional opinionsβ¦Thank you Jeffrey!!
For World Day of Glaciers, from my archives - a few glaciers I've painted. The importance of glaciers to our planet cannot be overstated (I'll leave that to the experts www.un.org/en/observanc...) From this artist's POV, their elusive colour, cool incandescence & complexity is inspiration #glacier
lovely tribute to TDM!
Have you done any live figure drawing?
It gets easier, just keep going.
Krista I think you've already pinpointed what you could work on, drawing & perspective. I believe drawing is to painting as walking is to running - not to say it's impossible to run without learning to walk first, but it is more efficient and will help you avoid injury ;)
Just the nudge I need to stop doom scrolling and enjoy some audio goodness instead. Thanks K.
I think that may be a Janice Tanton painting?
If you need a distraction from the current world situation π± I invite you to read my latest blog post, "New Year, New Paint, New Paintings." If you aren't up to reading (I wouldn't blame you) just enjoy the pictures π

Well thank you so much! I appreciate knowing my descriptions aren't for naught.
Thank you so much! I feel watercolour is really underrated in terms of its flexibility and potential to render colours as vibrant and saturated as any other medium, in addition to delicate washes. It is a powerhouse medium!
Oh yes, cross that off the list (or just leave it there to inspire a return trip!) Summer or winter?
Thank you Jeffrey, it was a wonderful experience that needed to be expressed in paint!
Thank you K!
Watercolour painting by Canadian artist, Jennifer Annesley, of a lit antique oil lamp lighting a log interior, next to a glass of white wine. In the background is a square 4-paned window looking out to a vista of a snow- covered mountain and deciduous trees. Colours range from firey yellow-orange & burnt sienna to cool blue and purple. Value range is complete, from pure white to pure black. Available at Canada House Gallery in Banff, Canada https://annesley.ca/availablechg
"Skoki Afternoon"(watercolour, 21 x 14") The entirely analog experience at Skoki Lodge is rustic, yes, but elegant & restorative in its simplicity. Antique oil lamps are the only light source in the 1930 ski-in lodge, creating a glowing interior that contrasts/augments the winter landscape. #art π¨π¦
Watercolour painting of Yamnuska Mountain on the edge of Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. A cliff face catches afternoon light with low clouds rolling through the valley at its base and more peaks in the background. A fringe of trees frames the bottom of the composition. Colours range from golds and rusty orange in the rock, to the pale pink of snow and violet shadows.
Fresh off the easel...one of two new watercolours heading to Canada House Gallery in Banff, Canada on Thursday.
"Yamnuska" (50 x 30" framed) The iconic peak guards the eastern side of Banff National Park, and is popular with climbers w/ around 200 routes. I love the way it catches light... #art

Thank you - watercolour as a medium has amazing range!
watercolour still life painting of red and gold tea cup and saucer, gold spoon, antique dressmaking book, antique warpack needles, and the edge of a corset. A needle with thread winds behind the cup, visually connecting the objects, strong afternoon light illuminates the scene.
"Needles and Threads" (12 x 12", Watercolour) Another painting that just arrived at White Rock Gallery, B.C. A literal thread connects past & present: my grandmother's antique needles/dressmaking instructions, my mom's tea cup & a corset I made recently. annesley.ca/available-at-white-rock-gallery
Noooooo!!!! Paint on π₯°
