Perfection from the garden this morning

For all the people getting mad about Happy Ramadan messages and saying “what about Lent” even though they’ve never asked before and might not even mark it themselves, I for one am very happy that more people as a result of Ramadan might be marking Lent. Go for it!

Thinking of all who have lost a loved one especially if this year is the first whether you’re marking Christmas today or just having a moment in the holidays. Love is an active verb even for those who have passed, so I hope we can all do some good deeds for them as their legacy.

People looking after kids AND elders in the world's 5th largest economy don't have the money to eat. People literally holding families together and contributing to the £182 billion of unpaid care labour to the country. I cried reading this. www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopula... #carers #sandwichgeneration

I thought I’d pick up where I left off. But I won’t ever be the same. Not ever again.

For all of us children who miss our dads
(Because we will always be their children…)
I hope this day is a reminder of the gift of having an incredible father.
It is one of life’s greatest blessings,
and a legacy we must treasure and pass on.

I absolutely would not be the woman I am today without the dedication my Dad made to being my father, and nurturing me like the most precious seed. I don't know how to express how much he treasured me, and how central he is to my life. In his life, in his passing, in his legacy

To all the Dads who have brought up their children with love, wisdom, tenderness and self belief, let the good words and righteous actions of your children stand witness to your immense contributions, your role modelling and your gift to us and the world. #HappyFathersDay

At the half way mark of #couchto5k
Half is more than a quarter and it’s more than none. Having started with 60s runs I’m now at 5 min runs x 3.
I’m also walking to complete 5 actual km as soon as the routine is done so I can eventually run 5km distance. 4.5 weeks to go. Onward!

AI system resorts to blackmail if told it will be removed - BBC News In a fictional scenario, the model was willing to expose that the engineer seeking to replace it was having an affair.

Humans encoded their own biases and bad behaviours into the systems they created. Who’d have predicted it, eh? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Care work is some of the most physically and emotionally skilled work anyone could do. People who deliver care should be highly trained, fully skilled and be working in the context of a respected industry. Which also values the armies of unpaid carers who are the backbone of our entire nation.

'Crushing blow' for care homes as they face ban on overseas recruitment The government has announced measures to reduce the number of low-skilled workers coming to the UK by about 50,000.

The idea care work is 'low-skilled' permeates everything about recruitment, pay, respect and (lack of) professionalisation of this sector and is both a disgrace to the way we see care, and a laughable suggestion if you've ever done paid or unpaid care work news.sky.com/story/foreig...

Once again everyone will pay the price for a govt that refuses to confront the trade-offs it faces. Failing to fix or pay for social care not only makes social care worse, it makes local govt and the NHS worse. I suspect voters will care more abt that than 50k off net migration via care visas.

#community #consumerinclusion #consumerequality #ramadan #eid #passover… | Shelina Janmohamed In all this rubbish about the risk of becoming an 'island of strangers', I wanted to share this video clip showing how we in fact as communities know and love each other, and the joy and celeb...

Has this 'island of strangers' rhetoric made anyone else upset? This video in a supermarket a few weeks ago was such a moment of delight showing Ramadan, Easter, Eid, Mother's Day and Passover all in one place. Strangers my <insert expletive here> www.linkedin.com/feed/update/...

"If I had elderly parents going into care, I would be absolutely 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙙."

As Starmer vows to crack down on net migration, @maitlis.bsky.social and @jonsopel1.bsky.social ask: who will care for our most vulnerable if there aren't enough workers to do the jobs nobody here wants?
