One of Scotland’s fastest land mammals - the brown hare! 🐇

In early spring, particularly March, you might spot them ‘boxing’ in grassy fields near woodlands or hedgerows. 👀

Boxing hares are usually female hares throwing punches to fend off persistent male suitors!

Seal pupping season is kicking off! 🦭

If you’re near the coast at this time of year, make sure to keep your distance - stay at least 100m back and keep dogs on short leads. A camera zoom or binoculars give the best close-up! 📷

Just a few days until October’s full moon! This year it falls on the 7th & is sometimes called ‘Gealach a' Bhruic’ in Gaelic - the ‘Badger Moon’. Folklore says under the moonlight, badgers would gather grass, getting their setts ready for winter. 🌕

With blue-grey wings, a bold eye stripe and a long pointed bill, nuthatches are easy to spot! As the seasons change, watch for nuthatches scuttling headfirst down a tree trunk, stashing away snacks for winter. 🌰🍃
