Nether Hornpot Lane in York, first recorded in 1295, a snicket linking Back Swinegate to the former Thursday Market (now St Sampson's Square). Its name derives from medieval horn-working, where cattle and sheep horns were soaked in pits, or pots, to make items like, combs & utensils.

A couple of experiments with gouache directly on wood panels treated with absorbent watercolour ground. It’s super weird!! Paint behaves a lot differently and seems do do better in slightly thicker applications (although I did manage to pull off some decent wet on wet clouds in the top piece).

It's honestly insane how intuitive and unrestrictive this approach feels.

I automated the system with #geometrynodes and am adding Grease Pencil support too to remove even more overhead
