I listened to Angine de Poitrine on my bike ride and by the end of it I had three hearts and they were all in Zone 7

To be fair it was a decent mailbox
You know endorphins are a thing when someone asks you how your ride was and you say “it was beautiful I saw a mailbox and a truck”
If indoor cycling companies really wanted to make virtual riding feel authentic they would fill the audio with way more screeching car tires and screaming drivers, and randomly end your ride session with pop ups letting you know a driver injured you through dooring/speeding/t-boning.
Will someone please launch a pour-over coffee kit for cyclists called Cup and Cone so I don’t have to #YouSeeItsAPun #AboutCycling #WaitComeBack
TODAY IS THE DAY

But
lol yeah the entire argument refutes itself.
There are other cities with more severe conditions than Seattle with strong bike cultures, and there are tools to neutralize all the “downsides” he mentioned. Where Seattle has invested in bike safety, existing cyclists follow and new cyclists emerge.
Yep! Good read on motornormativity (basically, car culture, or socialized normalization and prioritization of driving): www.theverge.com/2023/1/31/23... @ianwalker.bsky.social

I’ve given some presentations related to this and can share resources if you want to dig in more! But two good terms to look up: #Bikelash and #motornormativity. @calbike.bsky.social
Are you sure you meant to post this in response to a story about Seattle making a flat stretch of road car-free during summer weekends?

Was prepared for the NASA energy to be infectious bc as a kid I met John Glenn and went from “your work sounds cool” to “MR. GLENN I WANT TO BE AN ASTRONAUT” in like a minute and it took me a day to remember I dug space travel *for him* but it would conflict with my softball league schedule.

I can't stop laughing at this post. It's perfect.

@edsbs.bsky.social I went to Costco this week for the first time in years and am ready to turn over management of the country to them
Costco is so good at what they do that they make ME feel grateful for doing THEIR recycling for them*
*”Would you like a box?”
(We have to start putting up Velociraptor Xing signs, for their safety. It’s always the ones you don’t see.)
Audio system at a transportation summit last week picked up the feed from another event. After some static we all hear “WHO LOVES DINOSAURS?!?!”* And THAT is the cross-disciplinary dialogue we need to generate new ideas (and to see who else likes dinosaurs).
The people yearn for trains.
something strange and horrible and somehow fitting that we should have a very real threat of madman civilizational destruction at the very moment when we also have humans on the dark side of the moon taking pictures that show how small, precious, and beautiful our world and existence is
For people who used to drive most of their commutes/errands: What was an interesting or important realization you had when first going car-light or car-free?
