Our avian protein library is out now in Nature Communications! 🐦https://rdcu.be/eJi3h It helps researchers ID tiny bone or eggshell fragments from ancient remains. I'll be using this database to identify birds from Teotihuacan, Mexico, to understand the role of birds in feeding this ancient city.

Excited to share our new study in @natcomms.nature.com. It reveals surprising protein variability in birds 🐦, reshaping how we use ancient proteins to reconstruct the past. Curious about the implications? Read the paper here: rdcu.be/eJi3h. With @beademarch.bsky.social
AviCulture was featured in UniTo's public science blog. Check it out in Italian or English (link at bottom of page). Just please ignore the AI image which I swear had no part in!😅

At Teotihuacan, a major Mesoamerican city, we’ll be using our new database of avian proteins (doi.org/10.21203/rs....) to identify fragmented bones and eggshells and reconstruct the role of wild and domesticated birds in the subsistence strategies of the city’s residents. #paleoproteomics #MSCA
