Accidentally spending the evening being a geek…

Well, you can always build a train empire down the road with me and @domw-d.bsky.social 😘
Just finished Big Boys S3 and what a run—not a single dud episode! Jack Rooke has crafted the perfect full stop to his love letter to uni days: poignant,laugh-out-loud funny, and packed with 2010s pop culture gems (justice for Gamu!!). If you haven’t watched it yet, grab a cuppa and binge it now!
He is! He’s part of the Twexodus too…

January 2025: A month of good times, great wigs & questionable choices (like a communal Claudia Winkleman wig).
Highlights:
✨ A smoky, non-alcoholic cocktail too cool to drink
✨ Dom owning the wig
✨ Me, in sequins, explaining brain chemistry
10/10 month, would recommend.
As days at the office go, there have been more than the average number of sequins. This is clearly no bad thing and very on brand.
Sadly, the brand was on display at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium, which, I’d wager, is normally less about sequins and more about sixes. (That’s a cricket joke.)
Happy ninth anniversary of “David’s Dead” to those who celebrate.
Finally watched Queer and… I wish I hadn’t. Self-indulgent, with a third act that makes no sense. I don’t need films to over-explain, but I do need a semblance of plot and characters I care about.
137 messy, frustrating minutes. Not even Daniel Craig’s arse could save it.
I’m with @mpstevenson.bsky.social - I can’t choose one. It’s probably Impossible Princess by our Kylie. Or Elastica’s debut album.
I’m aware that’s two very different ends of the musical spectrum. 😂
@marsha-mellow.bsky.social slayed on Friday with her disco version of Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush could never)
Highlight of the night? 100% Pure Love by Crystal Waters. Only a handful of us knew the words.
The children need to be taught about 90s bangers. This is a public service announcement
(Oh, and for those keeping track… I’m about to start The Secret of Chimneys in my Christieathon: 5 down, 70 to go…)
A drag queen, me at work being productive and a close up of my dog.
The signs of my Meta-approved “mental illness” really are there for all to see, aren’t they…?
Now that I’m extracting myself from Meta due to their change in terms and conditions, I’m acutely aware my Profile looks like A Beginners Guide to Stalking Agatha Christie…
So, in service of redressing the balance, here’s the last three pictures from my camera roll:
My “cheer me up” story is Evil Under the Sun. But the Ustinov film, which is so joyful it hurts.
I have the BBC audio dramas of the Whimsey books: I listened to a couple and I liked them enough to get the set… so they might be worth trying…? Gentle, but good is my recollection of them!
My absolute favourite is After the Funeral…. but I have a soft spot for Why Didn’t They Ask Evans and A Murder Is Announced.
I’ve got all the Lord Peter Whimsey audio plays ready to listen to but never got around to it! Is there one you’d recommend?
(I know, I know, it's been a lot of Agatha Christie lately! But fear not, tales of Eurovision, Doctor Who, travels away and meals out in my camp little life are on their way 😂😂)
Finished Agatha Christie's Murder on the Links, my third read in the quest to devour all her works by the end of 2025! Intriguing premise and logical ending, but the characters fell flat for me. Hastings' antics felt off-key. Happy to take a break from Poirot with The Man in the Brown Suit… 📚
An excellent, excellent choice. Up there in my Top 10 Christies (and one of my favourite from the later Poirot stories)
When you spent billions and destroyed your brand to recreate 1930's Germany and got 1780's France instead.
Just checked, and I think this is a hate crime, bab. 😂😂😂😘😘😘😘😘
Wow! It made the cut!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Bab… you’ve met me. You don’t need this Susan bird to give you notes. We’ll just grab a vino and you can have an object lesson.
I’m so pleased you liked it - I do hope this is the start of a series… I’m sad we don’t go straight from Styles to France for Murder on the Links!
This. And, I’d wager, more than 80%. #filmsky
Just wrapped up The Secret Adversary, my second stop in my Agatha Christie re-read marathon! Not one I'd usually revisit - remembered it as a bit meh! - but I thoroughly enjoyed it this time around. Almost tempted to dive into more Tommy and Tuppence shenanigans, but, next up, Poirot awaits. 🕵️♂️
oooh, what a great list! I saw James live at Wolverhampton Civic in 1997 for the Whiplash album tour… <chef’s kiss>
Supremely jealous about Kate Bush!
Insanely jealous of Björk, Crowded House and Portishead!!
