There are no applications in Kursaal ward this time, but residents may be interested to tune in and see how the process works.
The Planning Committee makes decisions on whether to grant or refuse applications for planning permission. This Committee is "quasi-judicial", meaning that councillors are not acting as politicians but are assessing applications against planning law and the Council's policies.
๐ฃPLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING THIS EVENING๐ฃ

Full funding will need to be via grants but to enable the necessary permissions and to give assurance to funders that things have been thought through, full architects plans need to be drawn up. This appeal aims to help fund this stage.
The Museum believes heritage should be for all! Thus, they want to do something to allow access to a wider range of people. After exploring a range of options, the best way would be to install a lift. This is always a complex activity, especially in a listed building.
Southend Pier Museum has increased its visitor numbers dramatically in recent times with over 15,000 people visiting us last year. However, those with limited mobility or with heavy buggies are unable to access the museum via the steep set of stairs that form our main entrance.
The chairman of Southend Pier Museum, Tim Watts, is running the London Marathon on Sunday to raise money for the Museum to install a lift.
A graphic reading "I'm backing Matt!/Matt has a proven record of listening and supporting the people in the Kursaal Ward whether it be the repair of roads and pavements, making sure people have the right information at the right time, or supporting local charities. Whatever the incident or event he can always be relied upon." - Pat Sampson Kursaal ward resident"
I'm delighted to have the backing of Pat Sampson in the elections on 7 May.
Everyone knows Pat for the force of nature she is. I've met few people as dedicated as her to making our community a better place for everyone. It's been a joy to work with her, and hope to continue to do so if re-elected.
Residents of #KursaalWard with any questions or concerns about planning applications can, as ever, get in touch with me at cllrdent@southend.gov.uk.
