My SNES with the new enhanced Doom cart from Limited Run Games, including their new SNES Rumble-enabled controller

I finally got my copy of the new "FX3 Chip" version of Doom for SNES as well as the matching Rumble-enabled controller!
While it's interesting to see what an "FX3 Chip" can do, this controller really steals the show with how sturdy and solid it feels with it's grips on the back and texture!

Kept resetting on me, to mitigate heat and excess power I removed the 12v rail because without a disk drive in this machine (it was broken so I replaced it with a GDemu) it didn't need that anymore and I did a deep clean on the connector to the power board. No more power spikes and resets!

3 vertical panels.

Panel 1 labeled 2014 - me with short hair in front of a CRT with Shenmue on it and a Dreamcast, SNES and N64 in front of it. Me saying "I love collecting retro game stuff! I'm gonna play ALL the games!"

Panel 2 labeled 2019 - me with slightly longer hair, more consoles in front of the TV, with static on the screen. Me saying "These old systems needs a lot of maintenance. I have to get better at electronics repair.

Panel 3 labeled 2024 - even more systems on the CRT, but me with my current long hair sitting at a table with my back to them, soldering a circuit board, my custom PICO-8, my handmade Vectrex controller, my "Game Man" I made by consolising a GBA on the table and me saying "...remember when I used to play games?"

Since it feels like all I've been doing for the last 3 weeks has been repairing my game collection, today's #throwbackthursday is the little comic strip I made about this EXACT situation two years ago!

To make matter worse, my Power Base Converter doesn't seem happy about the region switch in my Genesis, but I think I have workarounds

I normally keep my Power Base Converter on my model 1 Genesis (with matching Sega CD) and my 32X on my model 2 Genesis (with matching Model 2 Sega CD), but I was testing an auto region switching mod I put in my 32X, which necessitated assembling the classic "Tower of Power"!

I updated to the newest version of OpenMenu for the Dreamcast's GDemu so it could drive my VM2 directly, but it also has integrated BLEEMCAST!! ๐Ÿคฏ
Throw a PS1 ISO on your SD card and it'll run on Dreamcast! (Well... to the best of it's limited ability! ๐Ÿ˜…)

But look how cool he is!

Threw together an S-Video cable for it with spare parts and a $4 used cord I found it's basically good as new.
Here's the custom Composite and S-Video cable I made for it and the back of the system with the custom rotary switcher to launch the extra system ROMs that were installed.

Wipeout 3 XL on my CRT TV and my Flat panel TV with two PS1s on the floor and a serial link cable connecting them

There's an NTSC-patched version of the PAL-exclusive WipeOut 3 Special Edition, so I put a copy on my new Xstation modded PS1 and burnt a copy for my modchipped PS1 and then serial linked the two for some sweet networked head-to-head at the smooth 30 fps that this version can do!

I do have a Netlink and a DreamPi, so I might have to take it online!

Last night I played James Lambert's new N64 game, JunkRunner 64
This could have just been a tech demo to show off the incredible achievement of the massive open world he got working on the system, but it's also a cute and clever scavenging game as well!
Super impressive!

I hear where you're coming from, but it's a SNES remake of former full-release games, Space Zap (arcade) and Space Fortress (Astrocade). Which I thought was neat!
