New paper out from the MosSI group. Started this work in 2017 so great to finally get it out!
TL;DR - Microbiome interactions with ZIKV - host background matters!

Aedes aegypti eggs can survive dry conditions hatching when water rises.
#FunFactFriday: Aedes aegypti eggs can lie dormant for months in dry conditions, then spring to life minutes after rainfall.
This persistence is just one of the reasons why our sustainable #Wolbachia method is crucial for protecting communities from diseases like #dengue.
Have a good weekend!
What a title!

Fascinating research and a reminder of the complexity of non-human animals' #microbiome - and the complex impacts on #PublicHealth and #OneHealth
Trying to focus on something positive for a second; outstanding work finally seeing the light of bioRXiv; #mosquito #microbiome #ZIKV interactions; after ~7(?) years' work, this really complex manuscript is finally here! #MicroSky #MicrobiomeSky 💻🧬 🧪 TLDR; The #holobiont diversity strikes again 😊🦟🦠
