When I meet an autist that describes themselves as high masking it often becomes increasingly more obvious over time that it is less that they are "high masking" and more that they have polite friends who have decided their eccentricities are charming.

They have an AI hub, which may help.

The notetaking software I was given, Genio, is pretty accurate for transcriptions, including technical language, and it has both a web app and phone app. However, I can't see whether they use generative AI for this. I haven't used the live captions functionality so can't speak on that.

Woke up after 3 hours sleep. Alexithymia preventing me from accessing whether that is due to stress, anxiety, or excitement that may be inferred by the fact I'm getting on a flight tomorrow.

People saying and doing horrible things doesn’t mean they have a mental illness.

It doesn’t mean they “lack intelligence”.

It doesn’t mean they have a disability.

It means they are saying and doing horrible things.

Conflating that with disabilities is ableism.

UC phone operator says its backpayment from 2021, so... It's mine? That's nice.

Also, why has the DWP given me money? I've not been in receipt of UC or PIP for over a year. It might be back payment but I have to phone them because I haven't had a letter and there's nothing in the journal.

If it is actually money I get to keep, that's great.

I woke up this morning exhausted. It feels so physical, this heaviness, but I know it's cognitive.

Key words for PIP:

- Safely
- Reliably
- Repeatedly
- In a reasonable time
- At a reasonable speed
- More than half the days

This includes if it causes significant pain, or prevents you doing anything else after.

Eargym app baseline score of 386. The app states that this test measured my ability to process speech in difficult conditions and suggests that, with training, I could hear up to 20% more words in difficult conditions. My suggested improvement goal is 428.

I've had a little look at the free guest version, and I'll probably try out some of the other games when they become available to me.

I know it's not necessarily what this app aiming to train, but have you noticed any difference in how distracting sounds are in non-conversation scenarios?

You've been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who's coming to save you?

Just started watching The Apothecary Diaries, because we got netflix yesterday to watch something else, and I very much like the way the emotions of the main character are portrayed. Very relatable enthusiasm for her subject of interest.

Partner is buying a house, which is neat. Mortgage advisor has suggested life insurance for the both of us.

Unfortunately, my psychiatric history means that I cannot get life insurance.

Right, some of the stressful stuff has settled, so I just need to wait for my body to re-regulate. Supporting that process can be frustrating, because it takes so long.

STREAK acronym: the STREAK method is an acronym that stands for Stop Stereotypes, Time, Respectful Reactions, Expectations, Access, and Know your Students.

In microbiology, a streak plate is used to isolate microbial colonies from a mixed population and enable individual species to grow and thrive. Can the same idea be applied to help individual students thrive in the classroom? This #JMBE offers insights: asm.social/2Gt

The Medical Evidence Project We find bad research that affects health and life

I had a lovely catch up chat with @jamesheathers.bsky.social at the weekend. I am thoroughly inspired by the work he and team are doing at the Medical Evidence Project. They act on tip offs for fraudulent and/or inaccurate science used to shape medical practice. Know any? medicalevidenceproject.org
