Leedsichthys problematicus, a whale-sized filterfeedeer pachycormid fish from the late jurassic
I dont know much about non-tetrapod anatomy, so below i'll thank everyone who coached me and helped me make this commission accurate within what we know of it !! ↓↓

Such a pigeon vibe from this angle, superb face! Huggable even!
Fun lil Portrait Sketch of Muttaburrasaurus based off new paper! (Featuring fun speculative feathering)

Thank you!
Took quite a few attempts to get right! A few sore fingers and eye strains later, I am satisfied with the fur, but next time I want to clean it up a bit and make it more cohesive.
Id like to note that W. alcootaensis is the biggest and youngest of the Wakaleo species, the size of an average leopard! They have more ground adapted anatomy, and alot of converging traits with Thylacoleo sp., despite the 2 Genuses diverging around late oligocene early miocene!
Truly all the words needed to understand the animal❗️
Wakaleo alcootaensis Final Coneptualisation -
For the next 2 months, I will be working on the final W. alcootaensis and adjacent flora and fauna illustration on A2.
Thank you Dr. Adam Yates for feedback and criticisms for Wakaleo and Alcoota sp.!

Digital Drawing. In the centre, a thylacine/tasmanian tiger is depicted mid-run. Behind it are the silhouettes of thylacine bodies lined up in rows against a red background.

The Prehistoric Planet Ice Age logo
A photo of a crocodile resting at the edge of a river, its jaws agape. Image by the BBC
Some days ago I made a thread on Pleistocene crocs in honor of Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age, and now I'm bringing it here too.
Let me prefice this by saying that I of course understand their absence, obviously more unique fauna takes priority and I don't begrudge the team their choice
For I have not vanished off the face of the earth, but instead been facing my agorophobia with the outside world and started my Diploma of Visual arts!
And my Wakaleo alcootaensis will be a forefront piece for one of my assigments, proposal of exhibition!
I went with Paleoart!

Piece for upcoming shark book. Male meg grabs the pectoral of a resistant female amidst a baitball of Alosa (shad). Meanwhile, a flock of Spheniscus megaramphus (extinct large, long-billed banded penguin) and an extinct toucan-billed booby, Ramphastosula, go fishing. Pisco Formation, Miocene Peru
My total inspiration for the themes and composition is just classical naturalist illustrations so I can totally see why you would want to do that! I plan to redo this painting sometime in the future, but I'll focus on other animals for now!

So nostalgic and fits so well. In love with this!

Years of work involving an amazing team at BBCSstudios Framestore AppleTV, our series #PrehistoricPlanetIceAge is out now on #AppleTV. Huge thanks to everyone involved. All 5 eps have been released!
Those would be lovely to see, hopefully the exhibition opens up again soon. One of my art units from my recent Cert. III was about getting commissioned, there is so many little meticulous details and assumptions both the client and the artist need to make, it was suprisingly difficult!
Even when I correct myself I'm still wrong, Im such a twit! Sorry Gabriel . 🙏
Yes! I have been reconstructing w. alcootanesis with the help of Adam Yates, just with the skull so far. I have measured the P-C Material, and I plan on doing a full skeletal when some other potential referred P-C material is described. I will post the skull and some prelim illustration wips soon!
Oh true! Didn't even notice that, thanks for pointing out! Yeah, the head is very nice, I'm currently working on a Wakaleo alcootaensis illustration so this has been a good inspiration of reconstruction style.
Gabriel Ugeuto*
A lovely blog to read in the morning with a cup of tea. Very nice. I think Gabriel Ugeuoto's reconstruction is perhaps my favourite, aswell as it stands up to date with the recent phylogentic paper, being so, well, koala-like!
One of my favourite #Pleistocene mammals - and, yes, it has a role in #PrehistoricPlanetIceAge - is the big predatory marsupial #Thylacoleo. Here's an introduction to this fantastic animal.... tetzoo.com/blog/2025/11... #marsupials
And here the results from the Solnhofen #paleostream! This image depicts large parts of the terrestrial fauna of the Altmühltal Formation, the best understood part of the litographic limestone formations of Germany. There were several reasons for gong onto land despite...
(Old art) Brown Honeyeater!

And Weeping Bottle-Brush!
(Callistemon/Melaleuca viminalis)
The Brown Honeyeater is a local species to my home, a common, "drab" (I beg to differ), beautifully voiced bird.

A scene I did of Miocene Amazonia for a commission: an early Iniid River dolphin catches a frog right before a greedy arapaima does while Stirtonia-like monkeys hoop and holler at the commotion! Pretty interesting concept I must say. 🇧🇷
