And it's relatively easy to argue that all forms of govt can self-corrupt, but that monarchy is the most irrational of all systems.

It's relatively simple. Christian teaching recognises the need for good government (Romans 13), but also recognises that governments can become the Beast (Revelation 13). So I support and uphold the powers that be, but am happy to advocate for the end of the hereditary "principle".
