(As it is, I do plan to finally rewatch it with my husband soon, but I want to finish actually watching Twin Peaks: The Return first before I risk it! 🤣)

These questions did absolutely nothing to help me understand the movie, and I was frustrated by it and thought I hated David Lynch until I watched Twin Peaks several years later.

So yeah, I'd love to remove all of my memory of all that and see it fresh now as someone who just loved Twin Peaks.

The 10 questions that were on the inside of the front flap of my family's DVD copy of

MULHOLLAND DRIVE
David Lynch's 10 Clues to Unlocking This Thriller
1 Pay particular attention in the beginning of the film: at least two clues are revealed before the credits.
2 Notice appearances of the red lampshade.
3 Can you hear the title of the film that Adam Kesher is auditioning actresses for? Is it mentioned again?
4 An accident is a terrible event... notice the location of the accident.
5 Who gives a key, and why?
6 Notice the robe, the ashtray, the coffee cup.
7 What is felt, realized and gathered at the club Silencio?
8 Did talent alone help Camilla?
9 Note the occurrences surrounding the man behind Winkies.
10 Where is Aunt Ruth?

Also the damn DVD we had, had no chapters so she FAST FORWARDED MANUALLY like it was a VHS to get to that scene EVERY DAMN DAY. It also had that list of questions under the front flap that was supposed to help you figure out the meaning of the film. I kept reading them and trying to figure it out.

Mulholland Drive. I have a complicated history with it - it was the first David Lynch piece I ever saw (I was probably 15 or 16), and I saw the second half of it at least 40 times in one summer due to my stepmother playing it daily from "Silencio" onward because she was obsessed with the song.

I think I had something like 11 offspring before I asked him what it meant 😅

My funny story about playing LORD is that I kept chatting up the bard in the tavern, and he would take my character upstairs and then suddenly my "offspring" count in the game would go up. I asked my brother (aged 12/13 at the time) what "offspring" were, and he thought that was THE FUNNIEST THING.

My parents met on CompuServe in like 1985, and then they were sysops for a local BBS which they taught me how to log onto when I was old enough to type (~6 years old). Through that I had an email pen pal in Australia and played the text-based multi-player game LORD (Legend of the Red Dragon).

I’m glad the Unicode Consortium added the “melting smiley” emote.

I just wish I wasn’t constantly presented with so many opportunities to use it.

Husband and I both did the online renewal this year and it was pretty painless and fast! It's better now that they've eased up the photo requirements a bit.

3 Screenshots from the movie "Mallrats" (1995): First, three young men stand outside a mall restroom, engaged in a tense conversation, one of them wearing a beanie and a stained shirt. Second, a man dressed in a makeshift Batman costume with goggles and wings spreads his arms while standing on a mall structure. Third, a brightly lit stage features a man in a light blue suit hosting a talk show segment with three seated guests under spotlights and pink curtains.

4 Screenshots from the movie "Apollo 13" (1995): First, a crew member inside the spacecraft looks concerned under red emergency lighting, saying, "We've got a problem here." Second, another astronaut responds in alarm, asking, "What did you do?" with the reply, "Nothing. I stirred the tanks." Third, a close-up of a mission control operator listening intently with the subtitle, "This is Houston. Say again, please." Fourth, a focused astronaut delivers the iconic line, "Houston, we have a problem."

Apr 13th 1970 - "Houston we have a problem". This was a deliberate misquote in the movie. The writers as thought the original spoken line of "we've had a problem" wasn't as dramatic.

Yes, that is me among the undersigned on Fight for the Future's letter supporting the Internet Archive's work. I also donated $100 to the Archive in January, which seemed like a fair payment for the dent I've put in its server costs over the years.

I have known Amber since I was 11 years old. And, okay, I forgot to tell her this, but one of the memories I have from when I was younger with Amber is her asking me -because I had really long hair back then and my hair is a little bit wavy, so it curls up at the end-if I curl my hair to get it that way. And I was like, "Oh no, I don't."
I was little. I didn't think too much of my hair like that. But she was like, "Whoa. It's really beautiful like that. You have that naturally." And literally, ever since that day, I have loved that my hair has done that, and it's literally all because of her. It's not like I hated it before. I just didn't pay much attention to it. But I need to tell her this. It's crazy that it's stuck with me for this long. I really don't have many memories of when I was younger, but I do have that one.

Todd is a good follow

Todd is a good follow

It’s a good question, let’s clear the air:

1) Disco is awesome, like 25 all-time classic tracks in a 4 year span,

2) Disco was hated because it was queer, brown, and black,

3) Disco was hated because it paired women and men in a different power dynamic.

4) “Disco Sucks” was a “ MAGA” test run.
