Yesterday was a brilliant day for children’s legal rights in Scotland. We still have 223000 children and young people out of school. “ ghost “ children no ones sees or hears. We have a massive delivery problem at local authority level. The gap between legislation, policy and practice is huge.
The Restraint and Seclusion in Schools (Scotland) Bill has been passed unanimously by MSPs at Stage 3:

After 11 years of campaigning, Daniel Johnsons members bill The Restraint and Seclusion in Schools (Scotland) Bill 2025, known as Calums Law will face the final debate and vote from MSPs.
I am nervous but hopeful that Scotlands lawmakers will do the right thing.

Your daily reminder that so many neurodivergent children and young people will be in extreme distress this morning. They CAN’T not won’t go to the building that makes them feel ill. Bring overwhelmed I’d like drowning you need to escape. Dysregulation is like panic you are in flight or fight mode.
223,000 neurodivergent children and young people in Scotland can’t access their legal right to an education is the white text.
