Two white-haired women stand outdoors facing each other in conversation. The woman to the left is shorter. In the background are the concrete buildings of Monterey Bay Aquarium and a distant view of the ocean.
Dr. Jane Goodall was a remarkable individual – as a scientist, as an advocate for wildlife and wild places, and as a source of profound hope for the future of our planet. She brought such a joyful spirit and unfailing optimism to her work. #inspiration #hope #wildlife #conservation

Do they wear rollerskates there while bringing you food? They used to here, and I can only assume it stopped after some food & rollerskate mishap.

The Accountant 2 was fun. Part action movie, part mystery, and most surprisingly, part buddy comedy. The chemistry between the brothers was incredible.

Trying a weeklong meditation challenge to experiment and change things up: meditating for an hour a day.
I meditate daily, but upping it to an hour today was definitely a new experience. Found myself getting carried away by thoughts more after a bit, and bringing myself back to refocus.

I still use protondb for my steam deck, but I admit that I don't use my deck as much as I used to.
Helpful resource before I buy a new game though.

Thunderbolts* was enjoyable. Mainstream movies addressing mental health issues hopefully helps remove some stigma.

Going to be taking some days off over the summer. Anyone have any favorite books, tv shows, or video games that can be completed in a day?

James Cromwell playing Zefram Cochrane in the Star Trek movie First Contact, shaking hands with an alien (Vulcan). This is a seminal moment in Star Trek lore. The first time in that universe that humans make (official) 'first contact' with aliens.
It is celebrated by fans every year on April 5th.
Happy #FirstContact Day!

I heard there was a secret ooze
It turned four turtles into dudes
But you don't really care for pizza, do ya?
They fought like this,
Two swords, a stick
A couple sai
Some nunchuck tricks
Those Ninja boys-a callin

Reminder to me after today's yoga class.
Do not ask my instructor "What's up, dog?" It just gives them ideas.

This movie was great. A truly creative, original, and delightful film. I laughed so hard, gasped a few times, and the hits were satisfying. Worth your time.

Saw an early preview of Paddington in Peru with my family today.
Although not a perfect movie (that honor goes to Paddington 2) it is completely charming, funny, and delightful. I loved every minute of it's whimsy.

I don't know, however I think some of it can be attributed to Hedonic Adaptation. If you have little money, then more money does make you happier. After a certain point, that stops. Human brains struggle to adapt to that paradigm, so they keep chasing more.

My thoughts on the Brutalist after just watching it:
Beautiful shots, great acting, and more long movies should have intermission.

Every year I try to watch all the movies nominated for Best Picture.
Which means I am about to spend almost 4 hours watching The Brutalist.
See you on the other side.

Observation: Most people judge themselves and others based on where they are now.
I think it's more interesting to recognize how far someone has come to get to where they are now. We don't all start in the same place.
Hoping to keep moving forward with less judgment today.
